About meI hate these because I cannot write good ones! life is currently focused on healing my fibromyalgia. Reading (while reclining in a comfortable position) is one thing I can do without causing myself extra body pain, but it can cause eye fatigue so I read in short spurts. Reading allows me to escape the discomfort and limitations of my body, so it is uber-important to me.

I'm a lifelong conglomeration of geek-nerd, leaning decidedly more toward the latter, at least according to Burr Settles' infamous scattergraph.
(My embedded link doesn't appear to be working, at least when I view it. Sorry about that. I am geek enough to use it, but not enough to diagnose it.)

About my libraryMy library is dominated by SF/F and "Speculative" Fiction, including some YA; second place belongs to an extremely diverse collection of non-fiction. I particularly like books that both entertain me, and teach/tell me something interesting or practical that I didn't know before (this doesn't just apply to non-fiction). I want to know at least a little bit about nearly everything! I knew I was making progress toward this goal when I heard my husband say to my daughter (in answer to a question): "Go ask your mother or look it up. In that order."

I enjoy the escapism of reading, so I pass on fiction that is too realistic or "slice-of-life." I never seem to enjoy them, no matter how good the writing.

Topics that generally do not interest me: War (even if it is SF/F), Space Opera, Urban/Paranormal Fantasy (I became saturated with it a few years ago), and Romance (if it is the main purpose of the story).
