About meWriting isn't the job that pays the bills, but I'm not good at remembering lots of user names, so this is one I've used before. (I figured just plain Karen would be taken and I'd have to add a number behind it, then I'd forget the number.)

My paying job is working as a secretary. My volunteer job is helping out at a local museum called the Johnson-Shaw Stereoscopic Museum.

I also write historical novels (one published more than a decade ago) and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. Recently I've had two historical research articles published in Writers Journal.

The writing is a hobby, basically something to keep my brain interested without spending much money. I attend a monthly writers group. Most of the members are writing books, and reading a chapter a month for us to critique. Once you get started going to meetings you have to continue, in order to find out what happens next!

I'm a Time Traveler -- that is, I'm interested in history, and do a lot of historical research, thus being able to mentally travel back in time and learn how people used to live.

About my librarySince I live in a one room apartment I have to limit the books that are keepers. One important section of my keeper books is my old children's literature. I've got anthologies of St. Nicholas magazine, books from my own childhood (mostly Little Golden Books, Scholastic Books ordered through school, and the Whitman Publishers books that were bought in the toy department of the old discount department stores such as Murphys, Grants or Woolworths) and old children's series books bought here and there over the years

I also have historical reference books. The most important items in this section is my collection of old mail order catalogs. There is no better way to find out what people owned, and how much things cost, then to look up the information in an old mail order catalog.
