About My Library
Always old books, and by old, I mean 100+ years old. I have a few 16th-century books, many more 17th century books, and lots of 18th and 19th-century books. I prefer books that are "witnesses" to events that took place when they were written and say something about the time they were written. I have a copy of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" from 1852, so it was a witness to and perhaps physically held by readers who were experiencing the effects of slavery at that moment in time. Not all of my books have that direct connection, but they still have a physical connection to the past. They are time-travel machines. I also like cookbooks (also historical ones).
About Me
Book collector since forever. I am an English teacher, but also a linguist and language lover. I am fluent in English and German, but can also read French, Spanish, some Latin and some Russian. Also a bit of Hebrew/Yiddish. To me, books represent immortality.
