About meI'm too old to talk about it without crying so I'll pass. I like to read and have a penchant for good science fiction (i.e. Michael Crichton, may he rest in peace) and well written history (Stephen Ambrose - may he too rest in peace) and David McCullough (thank God he's still here). I like to read at dinner while on the road and have aspirations of writing my own novel but I can’t seem to get it down on paper. Perhaps if I water-board the little bugger I can get it to come out, but I'm not holding my breath. (No pun intended - well, OK... it was). I've read a good many of the classics but have forgotten most of what I've read which means they'll be fresh and exciting when I read them next, so not necessarily a bad thing.

About my libraryI have a good many books scattered about the abode but I don't remember either where they all are or what's in them (see above) but I am planning to build new bookshelves in my so-called office and family room. Again, no breath holding please. I tend not to take books out from the library but buy them instead for reference and – more importantly - to accommodate my relatively slow reading speed and aforementioned short attention and memory spans. I've learned to adapt if nothing else while mourning the passing of my once considerable memory, once described as a vast reservoir of useless knowledge. It now bares a striking resemblance to an ankle-deep tidal pool with memories flopping about like fish drying in the sun. Sad, really but hey, getting old ain't for wimps! And, like Woody Allen, I a little skeptical of joining an organization that would have me as member. Have you no standards!
