About meHello! I work as an Assistant Manager at the OLRC library at the University of Birmingham. I really enjoy it and am presently in the last year of my MSc in Library and Information Studies at the University of Aberystwyth. I just need to finish my final module.....but I like to procrastinate.

Aside from all that, I'm into going out, drinking too much, listening to heavy metal and going to gigs. My favourite bands are Down, Pantera, Metallica, Corrosion of Conformity, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Skid Row, Clutch, Type O Negative, Machine Head, Aerosmith, etc, etc. I also like a bit of country music, especially Hank III, Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton.

About my libraryI'm interested in the American Civil war so there are a few books on that. I also love 19th century French fiction, such as Zola and Dumas. My favourite books are The Three Musketeers and L'Assomoir but I also like American writers such as Hubert Selby Jr and John Steinbeck. I'm presently reading 'Riding the Iron Rooster' by Paul Theroux, and boring all my friends with out of date facts and figures about China. Next on the list is Theroux's book on Africa. Books I've read recently include 'After Dark' by Haruki Marukami (not great), The Starbuck Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell (loved them!) and I'm gearing up for a lovely edition of 'The Red Badge of Courage' by Stephen Crane, which was bought for me as a birthday present by my friend Becky (cheers bird!). I fancy getting into a bit of Conan Doyle and some Dickens, so watch this space.
