About meDr. Helen Tinsley has been immersed in education for 40 years at state and local levels, in both urban and suburban schools, in the public, private, federal and nonprofit sectors. She is the CEO of Tinsley Institute for Multicultural Empowerment, LLC. In this capacity she provides engaging keynote addresses and professional development focused on multiple perspectives, implicit bias, cultural competence, strategies to support underserved and traditionally marginalized populations and early childhood education. Helen is committed to the education of ALL children. She is passionate about ensuring that children of color and inner city children receive an education that will empower them with the necessary skills and tools to make quality life choices.

Helen is a multi-dimensional artist, and her works include literary works (poetry, essays and children’s books), customized collages and ornamental picture frames. She is a 4-time published author, avid reader & sporadic blogger.

About my libraryMy library contains a diverse array of books. I have a large focus on African-African literature, history and culture; with a specific emphasis on women. I have many of the works by: Zora Neal Hurston, Toni Morrison, Alice Walker, Maya Angelou, James Baldwin, Nikki Giovanni, J. California Cooper, Langston Hughes, Terri McMillan, Bell Hooks, and others. I also have many poetry books, autobiographies, historical works and spiritual books. I am still adding books "slowly" to my library thing collections.
