About My Library
Depth and range, picks up chicks (always), but I'm trying to only post ones that I've read and kept. Sometimes I put things on here that I haven't read or haven't kept, but I keep almost everything so those are rare.

Most important book-actually a set, the Gateway to the Great Books. The variety of essays in the smaller 10-volume set provides the perfect backdrop for an education.

Favorite Great Book: Homer's Iliad. Other favorites: Odyssey, Dante's Divine Comedy, Tacitus' Annals (not the Anals!), Hobbes' Leviathan, Pascal's The Provincial Letters, Montaigne's Essais, Gibbon's Decline and Fall, Churchill's History of the English-Speaking Peoples, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Chaucer's Troilus and Criseyde, Beowulf, The Song of Roland, Benet's John Brown's Body, The Red Badge of Courage, The Scarlet Letter, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, For Whom the Bell Tolls, The Great Gatsby, The Love of the Last Tycoon, 1984, Walden and "Civil Disobedience," The Turn of the Screw, Boethius' The Consolation of Philosophy, Veblen's Theory of the Leisure Class, B.
