About meI'm a bibliophile at heart and I collect more books than I can read. I have a few hundred, but most are unfortunately in storage, because I don't have enough room for them at the moment. I've had a difficult time switching from reading required university texts to reading for pleasure, because I've got this niggling feeling in the back of my mind that something's due and I should be more productive with my time. However, this feeling is slowly subsiding and I've started to enjoy some amazing literature and catch up with some long lost favourites again.

About my libraryMy library consists of mostly hardcover and trade paperbacks with the occasional mass market paperback. I used to have loads of paperbacks, but I sold them when I moved. I have a lot of nonfiction, social history books, textbooks, and reference books. For literature, I have a lot of Canadian fiction, historical fiction, and classical literature. I'm currently collecting books based on Modern Library's Top 100 books of the 20th century and I've got about half so far. I also collect Oprah's Book Club series and loved some and hated some of the series. Ms. O and I don't always agree on what qualifies as a great read, but at least she has people reading, right? I also have tried to make a concerted effort to pick up the classics based on Harold Bloom's Western Canon list and C. Fadiman and J.S. Major's book The New Lifetime Reading Plan and to systematically read them starting with Gilgamesh.
