About meI am currently a housewife, but I originally trained as a doctor. Stress and long hours got to me so I retrained as a librarian, planning to work in medical libraries. Married, moved to Cheltenham where the nearest large medical libraries are over an hour's commute away. So I am a housewife and distance learning student and have recently completed a degree in geoscience studying with the open University.

About my libraryThis is the joint library of my husband and myself. It contains medicine and librarianship because of my previous training and professional interests. It contains mathematics and computing because of my husband's training and professional interests.

I am interested in natural history, geology, arts and crafts and especially patchwork. I read popular science books especially about lifesciences, and read some books about history and prehistory. I also read a lot of crime fiction. My husband enoyes mathematics, computing, astronomy and rolepaying. We both buy and read a lot of science fiction.

Ratings
I am not very good at rating books, and am not realy consistent, so I have amalgamated other peoples systems to try and make a list to refer to.
5.0 stars. A book that I absolutely loved, would absolutely reread. Either interesting and educational as well as being entertaining, or extremely entertaining, enthralling, moving. Have reread or will at some point reread.
4.5 stars. Excellent, a satisfying read, a title I would consider rereading. Enjoyed hugely, and will recommend to family and friends

3.5 stars. Better than average but with some flaws. Recommended. Enjoyable and likely to be reread
3.0 stars.Average. Readable. An entertaining read but probably forgettable. Will not reread. Recommended for entertainment value to readers with similar interest.
2.5 stars - Slightly lower than average. Some aspects of the story, characters or writing troubled me. Probably will not recommend.
2 stars - Finished but did not like. Would not recommend.
1.5 stars - Had some redeeming qualities or else I couldn't have finished it. Nothing to recommend it though.
