About my libraryI collect books by women authors, first editions of same, and Viragos (mostly VMCs). One of my persistent searches is for first editions of the VMCs.

My most beloved women writers are Alice Munro, Marilynne Robinson, Christina Stead and, of course, Virginia Woolf.

I am also searching for instances of "gambling women" in literature, characters (Lily Bart, for example) and quotations (there are several in Emily Dickinson's poems).

Another of my interests is the Burnt-Over District of upstate New York and the various enthusiasms that swept through it in the 19th century: Millerites, Oneida Community, Mormonism, etc. Still another is women writers and World War One (The Great War).

And the most recent category I have begun to search for is the occurrence of abortion in fiction before Roe v Wade. I haven't seen a list anywhere.
