This set is a fantastic read. CWP was an amazing person with so many wonderful talents. He also raised a very interesting family. I can't wait for volumes 6 & 7, though with the death of the senior editor, the process has slowed WAY down. The new senior editor Sidney Hart claims to be working on 6 & 7 but it has been years ...
A very interesting history of the Lewis and Clark Journals that follows them from writing to later discovery and the path followed from editor to editor. After the journals themselves and then the "Letters of the Lewis and Clark Expedition" this volume ought to be third on your list of L&C material.
If you've read the Lewis and Clark Journals and still want more, read this two-volume set. It is full of letters and documents concerning the L&C expedition including pre-expedition planning and shopping information, infor and event during the expedition and numerous letters that are post-expeditionary. This set relly fills in a number of cracks and gives a much fuller picture than what one gets strictly from the journals.
