As selected by trav, the Deep South Book of the Month is A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole.

All members are encouraged to read or re-read this classic tragi-farcical yarn twisting through the New Orleans psyche and to post their reviews to LibraryThing using the "review" field on the edit page for their copy.

Only reviews posted during October will be eligible for the prize, which consists of the esteem of your peers and the privilege of selecting November's book of the month.

We've had two reviews written since October 1, but neither were by group members. I've invited those reviewers to join -- but if they don't, and no one steps up to the plate, this contest will die in its infancy.

OK. Pretty much anyone in the group who writes a review or any of the two reviewers who join the group will win by default.
