Out of curiosity, does anyone know if you can take temporary ordination in the US? I know its done in asian countries, but I was wondering if anyone had done it in a western country?

Gampo Abbey, in Nova Scotia (Canada), offers temporary ordination (scroll down beneath the picture to read about monasticism and temporary ordination). The abbey is associated with Pema Chödrön and the Shambhala tradition.
