It's a new month for reading great comics.

I'm still enjoying Okko: The Cycle of Earth. Next up is Vol. 32 in a series I like a lot, Vagabond by Takehiko Inoue.

Just picked up a few things at Wondercon in San Francisco:

The Comic Book Guide to the Mission (anthology of local stories)
The Adventures of Unemployed Man (signed by Unemployed Man)
Batwoman Issue 0 (signed by co-artist Amy Reeder)

Plus I got some signed Buffy Season 8 cover art prints by Georges Jeanty, and a signed cartoon print by Keith Knight. Fun con, though crowded.

Sounds like a good time, edgewood.

I finished Okko: Cycle of Earth, which in some ways I liked even better than Okko: Cycle of Water. The artwork is really well done; I'd like to see some of up blown up to larger size. I'll be looking for the next one, Okko Volume 3: The Cycle of Air.

Next is The Mouse Guard Volume 1: Fall 1152.

I need to remember to pick up Okko soon.

I recently picked up the first trade of Northlanders. I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm also blaming the fine people in this group for this purchase :)

Also seeing Edgewood's comment made me think (maybe I should start another thread for this...) Anybody going to any conventions this year?

>4 Gendy:

Probably not... if I manage to get to any, it will be SF and/or Fantasy one and not a Comics one. Although if I just happen to be in the area for business, you never know -- I am keeping all of them on my calendar just in case I get a match somewhere :)

Have fun with Northlanders. :)

>>4 Gendy:,5 I'll probably go to the Chicago area Comic Con in August. I've gone with my daughter and others the last two years, and we've had a lot of fun. And made a lot of purchases!

Look forward to hearing what you think of Northlanders, which I haven't read yet.

>2 edgewood: I received Adventures of Unemployed Man as a Christmas gift -- it looks so funny but I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet. Hope you enjoy!

>4 Gendy: I went to the one in New York last fall for the first time. I enjoyed it so I'll probably go again this year, but we'll see what happens between now and then...

Northlanders was great! I highly recommend it. An awesome viking story.

So I might have asked the convention question to be jealous of everyone :) Actually it was mostly out of curiosity since there are no real coventions close to where I am. Although I am trying to figure out if I can go to New York with a friend but we're still working on it.

Still reading Joe the Barbarian. I've only read to issue 5 and Issue 8 just came out, but I have yet the chance to order it. So far it been really cool, quite an imaginative world. Reminds me of Neverwhere a little.

Other than that, picked up a copy of To Teach: The Journey, in Comics but have yet to start it.

Mouseguard was fun. Great artwork.

Now I'm reading the latest Usagi Yojimbo, Usagi Yojimbo Volume 24: Return of the Black Soul.

Touchstones don't seem to be working.

Tried to fix them, no luck

Just read Scarlet #5. While it's a compelling story, with great Bendis dialog & Maleev art, I may wait for the trades from this point on. $4 is a bit steep for 24 pages of story and 14 pages of filler. Or my curiosity & impatience may win out with the next issue :-)

Also read Memoir #3. I think this miniseries will read better as a collection.

Usagi Yojimbo Volume 24 was fine, although the storyline felt a bit recycled. I also read Rapunzel's Revenge, which was an enjoyable YA story.

Now I'm reading the first volume of Morning Glories by Nick Spencer and Joe Eisma. So far it's reminding me of Brian Vaughan's Runaways series.

It took me a while as I haven't had much free time to read lately, but I finally finished reading The Tale of One Bad Rat. Very well done. Thanks jnwelch for the recommendation.

We3 was a short but good Grant Morrison involving three pets modified to be weapons by the government.

Strangers in Paradise Pocket Book Vol. 4 by Terry Moore was an enjoyable continuation of the tale of Francine and Katchoo.

I've now started Terry Moore's Echo.
