Everybody gets lonely. I think it is a natural part of the human condition. It is never easy, when we are feeling isolated, but it never need be permanent.

I learned, a long time ago, a silly little trick for curing "the blues." (Don't laugh, now!)

Any time during daylight hours, whether sunny or cloudy, go outside and after closing your eyes (VERY important!) face the Sun, directly at it, and rotate your head back-and-forth. Do this for about 45 seconds to one minute. Be sure to face a way from the Sun before you open your eyes.

You will feel a "lift" within about a minute. I swear. And it will boost your mood for hours.

This comes out of research on what is commonly termed "Winter blues," the tendency of some people to grow more gloomy in wintertime. The researchers posited that it could possibly result from the lessening of sunlight. Experimentation showed positive responses (release of endorphins etc.) from UV rays striking the edge of the retina (hence the need to turn the head from side-to-side).

Give it a try.

Did you try it?

C'mon, give it a whirl!

Just one time.

Humor me.

#4 - I'm one of the happiest people I know, so I haven't tried it - but that's also because I live in Scotland and we very rarely see any sunshine!
