I'm reading Caleb Williams by Godwin (Wollstonecraft's husband). Last guilty pleasure: The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic--which I actually found cute and clever. Wasn't able to get into the sequels, though. Dorothy Sayers' Gaudy Nights is great, too.

I'm re-reading His Dark Materials because Mark is reading them over on markreads.net so I'm getting the reading it for the first time! experience all over again. He's also done this with things like Harry Potter (which he loved) and Twilight (hated) and it's a really fun experience for people who love to re-read like I do.

Right now... By the Sword, The Complete McAuslan and ... crap, it's in the other room. A really good book on biology, which is putatively about dinosaurs.

Got it... Dinosaur Oddysey, by Scott D Sampson.

So you do the same thing I do usually Pecunium, read a bunch of books at the same time. What was the largest number you have done at the same time?

Um.... depends on what one means by reading. For pleasure it's usually about four (I have another couple on the back burner right now).

I also have a few which are research... so at any given time I am usually in the middle of about seven-ten. Right now I have "Paul Among the People" percolating for a post to Slacktiverse, and a couple which are in the back of my mind for posts to my blog.

Just finished "Boneshaker." And I've got a few others I'm working on, including the third book in "Chronicles of the Twelve Kingdoms" (十二国記) and an awesome non-fiction book on private life in the Victorian-ish era.

Is Chronicles not in English?

I just checked amazon, and yes, they've got it in English, just the first four books it seems, with the title shortened to 'The Twelve Kingdoms.'

I've not read the English version, so I can't vouch for the translation or anything, but I have enjoyed the story thus far so it's probably worth a read if you like fantasy.

I'm reading "The Sealed Letter" by Emma Donoghue and "The Serpent's Tale" by Ariana Franklin. I also just finished reading "They Do It With Mirrors" by Agatha Christie.

I'm reading a collection of fairy-tale based stories called "My Mother She Killed Me, My Father He Ate Me." It's pretty good. I'm also reading a biography/history of Attila and the Huns.

I have the one that came out recently called Attila...the font used is pretty dense so it tends to slow me down.

However it is very interesting.

I just finished a book on the Lavender Scare - the purge of gay federal employees between 1947 and 1969. It was pretty grim reading but towards the end things got at least a little better. Now for comic relief I'm reading about a man in 1358 who decided he was the rightful King of France and had been switched at birth. I, umm, don't think it'll end well for him. And his habit of forging evidence to prove his claim isn't helping matters.

Just finished Hopscotch and Handbags by Lucy Mangan - and I think I broke something, I laughed so hard ...!

ETA - also reading Singled Out by Virginia Nicholson, an excellent book about the Surplus Women who had to find a new way to live, given the chronic husband shortage after WWI - extremely good.

I can now report that it did not well for the man who thought he was switched at birth. So, on to Power Rangers fanfiction.
