Wouldn't it be nice . . .

. . . to have another big group meet-up to look forward to?
I have been toying with the idea for a while now. Of course, planning a big get-together takes a lot of time and effort -- we'd be talking about something that would happen in a year or two (or more). Still, I thought I'd put out the first tentative feelers to see who would even be interested in something like that. I made up a very short, four question survey:

If you think you might be interested in attending a Hogwarts Express meet-up at some point in the future, go ahead and take the survey -- even if you don't know how the logistics/finances/whatever might pan out. Also, if you have any brilliant ideas about what we should do, post 'em here!
I wanted to fill out your survey foggi, I really did, but that was more planning than my poor brain can manage! I'm panicked just knowing I'm going to the New York Comic Con next Saturday. Maybe it's the lack of sleep lately. Let me think about it and I'll try to fill it out tomorrow. :o)
#2 -- It's only 4 questions, and they're all multiple-choice! You can do it!
I did it! I put two or three days but longer is fine
I'd love to meet more some people from HE. I was sorry to cut my trip short last year but I was in so much pain!
So far, nine people have taken the survey. Current results:
Question 1: Of those who didn't attend the last meet-up, the most common reasons given are that the timing was inconvenient, and they couldn't afford it.
Question 2: The most popular future get-together option is for a more low-key and inexpensive meet-up, involving movies, games, etc. -- but there are a few votes each for some sort of convention, or another trip to WWHP.
Question 3: Most people say that any time of year would be all right for a meet-up, provided that we give plenty of advance notice. Of the ones that did select a time frame, spring and summer look like the best options.
Question 4: The majority of respondents think 3-4 days is a good time frame for a meet-up, with 1-2 days being the second most popular option.
I know there are more than 9 people in this group who might be interested in a meet-up, so these results could change -- if you haven't taken the survey yet, please do!
I took it a while ago, but forgot to post here! Oops :P, it would so much fun to meet all of you guys and girls!
maybe people are skipping over the thread? I know I don't read every thread, so maybe it's not catching people's eyes because of the nondescript title?
#9 -- Perhaps you're right. I was going for mysterious or intriguing, but I guess I just ended up with vague.
Thanks foggi! :o)
And I think I'm one of the ones who hasn't filled out the questionnaire yet (took 3 times for me to figure out how to spell that.) Keep this one floating up so I don't forget when I have more time.
It's not the questions, it's the extra schedules I have to keep track of.
OK, it's questions too. I'm not very good with simple answers. Ask anyone. Just not me. :oP
I did it, by the way. :o)
I just took it! Rex was so little last time, it wasn't really feasible to consider, but I'd love to get in on the next one!!
Btw, last week one of my lecture topics was life online, and I mentioned this group and the fact that from semi-anonymous profiles on LT we've expanded to be Facebook friends, have gift exchanges, and organize meet-ups. My students were floored that I would accept gifts from "strangers" and consider traveling to meet with a group, to which I responded, "So how is that any different than using an online dating site?" They didn't have a good response, but it was interesting to hear their reactions!
I may have taken it twice. I took it when it went up, but when I hit submit my incredibly slow home PC took froze up and I had to hard restart, which means that I have no idea whether it went through or not. I took it again this morning and answered the same as before. So, if you somehow have more people skip the first question than actually went to Florida, that's why and I'll tell you my answers so you can discount one set if that's the case.
I filled it out and I would love to-but I don't think I'd be able. Everyone on here seems much older than me. I'm still in school, I couldn't afford it, and I'd have to check with my parents.
Mr.A! We told you that was our little secret! Now we have to kill you! Come on gang!
I just took the survey. I have to say I have been thinking this thread was another rant thread, so I have been skipping it. Today I noticed most of my favorite people have been posting so I thought I better check it out! I am glad I did!
And I'm compski's MOST favorite person. Mainly because we have to kill MrA.
*bakes a fresh batch of snickerdoodles to bait MrA, hands Ron a sack and some rope*
darn! Okay foggis out we must carry on without her. *dons a ski mask and then whips it right off cause it smells musty* "whew"
I'm in! Let's get him!
Why is ron holding a sack full of dirty laundry?
*JP wriggles out of sack. Her feet are tangled in rope, causing her to fall over.*
Oof! Luckily, I think I fell on foggi.
We have no idea. :o)
Contrariwise, there are many HE'ers who have always acted five. At least when we have someone to play with.
*disentangles from the ropes and stands up. Pulls wand out of sleeve and conjures a bowl of cookie batter.*
Who needed cookie dough?
Did someone say cookie dough? Wait, is there sleeping potion in that, too?
*eyes batter suspiciously*
Foggi, I think you have some batter in your eyes. *hand foggi a handkerchief.*
I like to think of them as the official cookie of the Hogwarts Express group. :o)
YAY!! THanks Foggi!
Mr Andrew, you are silly. I say this as if it's news. It is not news.
I filled out the survey as well. Are you guys thinking about doing another meet-up?
I still keep forgetting what this thread is about because the title makes me start humming Beach Boys tunes.
Ooh yes, lovely! Can it not be a british beach though? British beaches would probably be cold and disappointing. Let's make it a lovely, hot, somewhere-else beach.
Jersey Shore has lots of jellyfish. I don't like jellyfish... But other than that it's really nice there! And the six flags with the Kingda Ka ride is like an hour away!
Just bumping, 'cause I'm wondering if we're still thinking on this. If we're having trouble with one, large meet-up, then we can plan smaller ones. For example, who can meet in the following cities:
- Seattle, WA
- San Francisco, CA
- Chicago, IL
- Madison, WI
- Rapid City, SD
...and so forth. It isn't restricted to this measly list, but you get the idea. :)
