Hello all, I'm excited to join this Challenge!!
I was given a nook for Christmas, and I'm hoping to get plenty of use out of it. I'm looking forward to getting some good recommendations from all of you. Good Luck!

1. The Girl who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson

The first book was very good, this one was excellent. Full of twists and action, this was an exciting way to kick off the new year. The ending made me eager to start the next book right away, but I generally try to mix things up, so I'm holding off for a bit. I am hoping to see the Dragon Tattoo movie this weekend! (Daniel Craig... yes, please)

I haven't read those books yet, but I have seen the original movies. They were excellent. It will be interesting to see if the newer version holds up.

There's a trilogy I've been meaning to read...

I really enjoyed all the "Girl With..." books, although they were flawed. But great page turners! I also liked the original adaptations, and am hoping to catch the American adaptation as well!

2. Seven Up by Janet Evanovich

I've been slowly making my way through this series. As a Jersey girl myself, I find these characters hilarious. A quick, fun read, as expected.

3. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Like the Twilight series, I picked this up to find out what all the fuss was about. Unlike the Twilight series, I loved it! But, I'm always partial to dystopian novels. The concept was definitely influenced by other works, but the story was still interesting. Looking forward to finishing the series, although I hear the first book is the best.

4. Mile 81 by Stephen King

OK, so this is really a short story... but I'm counting it anyway. A bizzare car is eating people, and only the children seem to understand what is going on. A boy manages to defeat the car and send it back to where it came from using an ordianary household object. It reminded me of IT, but in less than 50 pgs. I wanted something simple to read before bed, and this did the trick. (I try to avoid long page turners at bedtime.... I will sacrifice sleep to keep reading, and regret it the next day.)

For some reason, I kept putting Steig's trilogy off. I think the hype had something to do with it. Sometimes that sort of thing scares me away from books, often when it really shouldn't.

I just started The Hunger Games yesterday. My best friend has been on my back for weeks now bugging me to read the trilogy. She's even already offered to loan me the second and third books in the trilogy. And when someone's screaming "Here, please! Take my books!" well, I expect you all know the appropriate response.

I'm partial to dystopian novels, too. So we'll see where this goes.

And...a car?!

5. The Time Machine by H.G. Wells

A first time read for me, and not at all what I expected. But I enjoyed it! I found the concept of eventual human degeneration interesting. This was a free dowload on my new NOOK. I anticipate reading quite a few classics this year now that it's so easy to download them instantly.

Only 5 books in January. I've got some catching up to do!

6. Horns by Joe Hill

Ig wakes up one day with horns, and a strange ability to hear others' sinful thoughts. He's already an outcast since everyone thinks that he murdered his girlfriend, although it was never proven. He uses his new abilites to determine what really happened, and to get revenge.

This book started out great, and I enjoyed the ending... but it did drag a bit in the middle. Overall, I liked it.
