Hi there,

Posted this in the Jan Books Received thread but it's not been picked up from there and I was wondering if LTER staff / the publisher can help at all ...

I've got a bit of a problem - I received my download notification for The Information Diet but didn't notice that there was a 2 week time limit on it. Went to download it yesterday after just not having time to think about it (Yes, I have made time to review all the 19 books I have received from ER) and was one day over the limit so I couldn't download it.

I have written to the publisher pleading to be allowed to have it still, as I'm worried this will ruin my perfect record of reviewing my LTER books. Can anything else be done or will I just have a black mark against me forever, not for not reviewing, but for not downloading.

Note: I have had other ebooks through the scheme but don't recall there being a time limit before ...

Please don't castigate me for not noticing about the 2 week time limit - like I said, I'm normally super-organised but that slipped by me. It's just a shame to be penalised for that for ever more on my LTER review stats ...

Thank you!

Liz

I think two weeks is a pretty narrow window. Not everyone rushes to download their win, and there's a 60 day window before you can mark something as unreceived anyway. I think that if the publisher won't let you download the book just mark it as unreceived.

I agree with Wosret -- if the publisher is nonresponsive to your request, mark it as "unreceived".

If you still want to read it, let me know. I received a paper copy, and have nearly finished reading / reviewing. I can mail you my copy...

Thank you everyone - and chazzard, did you win a paper copy? See, I didn't think it was an ebook and was surprised when I got the notification, then looked back and it said it was, but I wonder if that got changed. I would love that if you could (and happy to swap any of my BookCrossing availables for it) would you mind doing that?

It was listed twice last month (at least for Canada, I am in Toronto); I requested both the paper and the electronic copy, and won the paper one.
I have now finished the book, and need to finish up my review. If you can PM me your address, I'll mail the book in the next day or two...
