I'm very unhappy because I've just got this Mail:

As I'm sure you already know, you were recently selected to receive a copy of Mark Billingham's THE DEMANDS through LibraryThing's Early Reviewer program. Due to a mix-up on our part, international readers like yourself were selected as winners for THE DEMANDS even though we are not allowed to ship this book internationally. I'm very sorry to say that this means we will not be able to ship you your copy of THE DEMANDS. However, we can offer you a NetGalley, a digital copy of THE DEMANDS that you can read on your computer or eReader. If you would like a digital copy of THE DEMANDS, please email us at MulhollandBooks@hbgusa.com.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

Best,

Mulholland Books

Well, as an European Reader the selection of book copies are minimal and as a non eReader it's close to impossible to get a book.

I've run into a bit of a quandary on what to do about the June selection that I received from LTER ... The Little Book of Talent arrived quite speedily, and, being as "Little" as advertised, it was a quick read.

However, right there on the cover of the ARC it says "All reviews should be scheduled to run after that date." referring to the noted on-sale date of August 21 ... six weeks from now. Obviously, I'm going to write a better review this week than I would a month-and-a-half hence, and while I could just stick it in a folder and wait, I was wondering if that "embargo" applies to on-site reviews here as well.

Given that the vast majority (at least in my experience) of LTER books arrive months after their actual publication date (so much for "early"!) this has never been an issue before (although I have had one or two that I'd finished right about on their release date), and I'm wondering if they are actually wanting us to not post reviews on LibraryThing until then.

Anybody care to enlighten me on the LTER policy on this?

>41 BTRIPP: - You should feel free to post your review (as others have already done). When we've run into this question before the publishers have been fine with that.

An audiobook copy of Grandad, There's a Head on the Beach by Colin Cotterill arrived earlier in the week ~ sorry I didn't keep better track of exactly when. It arrived in a little cardboard box with a note inside asking that I send my review to the sender. I've already started it and am already enjoying it immensely!

ETA that I'm in Los Angeles. Not sure exactly from what city it was posted.
