I have two books that when I enter the ISBN, it cannot find the books. The number is on an inside cover sheet and on the back cover. I've expanded the search, and tried entering the book name and/or author. I can find the book on Amazon.co.Uk, and it also has the same ISBN number. I also confirmed the number on the publishers website. Can anyone explain this?

Some libraries do not index the ISBN in their catalogs and therefore don't find it on the LT search screen. If you want library data and want to search by ISBN the best source (for US books) is ILCSO. Even with that, if you want to use ISBN in the search, you will sometimes have to use Amazon.

>1 SallyAma: You might want to search Worldcat for those ISBNs. See if any library (at least, a member of OCLC) has them out there.

If it's a British book try Oxford University.

You don't say what book you are looking for, how recent it is, or what sources you have tried. It's really rather hard to help you. Amazon.co.uk is a sorce here, so you could use that or enter the book manually.

>5 SCS2017: You will always have more luck with a new topic than with adding a new message to an unrelated topic.

1) Dewey numbers are imported from library sources, so if you want Dewey numbers, you should try to enter using library sources.

2) Check that the information on your entries is accurate. Having the author correctly entered is a big help in combining with other people's copies who might have Dewey numbers that would show as green data in your catalogue.

3) Check whether there is another LT work that your copy ought to be combined into. You can get help combining at https://www.librarything.com/groups/combiners (This helped on https://www.librarything.com/work/3239744/workdetails)

4) Find a dewey number in a library and edit your entry to include it. For example https://www.librarything.com/work/19547547/book/141409668, British Library gives a Dewey number of 305.908091724
https://www.librarything.com/work/19562280/book/141504665 British Library 618.8

I have tried to combine the books that were listed as yours being the only copy or one of two, and found several matches, so that should help a little, but it would have been easier if the authors were accurate. Amazon listings have lousy data because they come from venders who don't care.

I suggest that if you use Dewey numbers for shelving that you add the numbers from the books to your entries. This will make your LT catalogue much more useful for finding books.
