Dear LT user,

Are you a frequent LibraryThing user? Are you a tagger? Do you perhaps focus on transgender or LGBTIQ material in your LT profile? Or are you just interested in making material accessible to all?

I am writing my masters thesis in Library and Information Science at Uppsala University in Sweden, focusing on indexing and tagging, specifically of trans material. I am interested in your thoughts, as a user and a tagger. If you have the possibility to share some of these with me, please let me know! It would be much appreciated. Contact me here or via email: caro.abergatgmail.com

Kind regards, Caroline Ã…berg

I do have a large collection of LGBTIQ materials in my catalog. You can see that I use a number of tags related to queer issues.

I tried to get a discussion about genderqueer tagging going years ago (here) but it didn't get any traction.

For a while, I was tagging all fiction where there was gender changing, confusion, or disguise under the tag genderqueer - FT-char but it was getting unwieldy and I've recently started splitting out gender disguises, though I haven't finished yet.

I hope that helps.

I'm interested in diverse SFF fiction, and I use the tag "genderbending" as a catch-all for fiction featuring nonbinary gender identities.
