I've received an email from Ian Whates containing the mobi format of Pelquin's Comet. However, I have been unable to transfer it to my kindle. Amazon keeps rejecting it. Has anyone else tried using their "send to kindle" address for this book?

Possibly the file is password protected, possible it is encrypted, or possibly the cover image is corrupted (only the top ⅓ of it displays - the rest is a green screen!). I gave up trying to transfer the file to my kindle and downloaded it to the kindle app on my iPhone, my least favorite device for reading a book!

Just seeing if anyone else is having a problem....

I got a UPS notification that says I have a 2.1 lb package coming from penguin random house. I only won one book and it's not the same publisher. Any ideas? I didn't find any books available by that publisher from the past giveaway. The suspense is killing me.

Apr 2, 2015, 3:52 pm

>6 AngelaFries: They have quite a lot of subsidiaries and publishing names so are you sure the book you won is not from one of the sub-publishing houses? If you share which the book is (here or in the thread for what did you win http://www.librarything.com/topic/189561 and someone can see if they can figure it out :) )

>8 AngelaFries:

Well from here seems like Tundra Books is an imprint of Penguin Random House Canada:
http://penguinrandomhouse.ca/imprints/tundra-books

From their site it sounds like they are an independent one. Not sure what exactly the relationship is but the book from Penguin Random House seems to be it :)

Personal guess is that it is a 'dimensional weight', not a weighed weight.

Or that it is over 500 g, was billed in metric, and then translated to pounds.

>20 lorannen: Thanks, Loranne! I wrote Ian a week ago and just received a response this morning with another copy of the .mobi file. I forwarded his email, with the new .mobi file attached, to my email-to-kindle address and it was rejected by Amazon, just as my earlier attempts were. I have notified Ian that this latest try also failed.

Just as an aside, I just successfully used that email-to-Kindle channel to download a book from NetGalley to read and review, so I know that process works and is not the source of the difficulty. I don't have a desktop or laptop computer, so I am unable to side-load the file to my Kindle e-reader manually.

I'm just going to finish reading Ian's book on my iPhone, my least favorite ereader. I am enjoying his story too much to delay it in an attempt to read it on my Kindle.

This book shows some great car drawing techniques with amazing details, like engines and accessories. I find its body graphics section to look 80's style with geometric circles, squares and triangles. The book definitely caters to the masculine, with muscle cars, hot rods, monster trucks, and pimped out classics. Some young artist is going to love this and be inspired.

Thank you for our first Early Reviewers' book!

I would like to let you know that my copy of "Bodybuilding Anatomy" has been received in good order via US Mail on about April 1. I have reviewed this book and am pleased with the information found here. As in many cases a cursory tour of the gym facilities are offered by the workers at the current offering of workout facilities. These people are helpful in showing the main machines but offer very little in the way of assistance with setting up a routine or any plan of action. Even if you arrange for a "personal trainer" you are not assisted in putting together a total program. This tome offers a mechanism to build such a plan. By highlighting the various muscle groups and illustrating the exercises designed to target these various groups, you can build your own plan. The trick then will be to stay with the plan to develop the muscle tone that can lead to a productive lifestyle. At least a mechanism is available to point the correct application of equipment toward that goal.

I was to have gotten Hong Kong State of Mind by Jason Ng but I haven't heard from the publisher or author. I have not received the book.

I'm in the same boat as nhlsecord. Haven't seen hide or hair of Hong Kong State of Mind. (I'm in Montreal, Canada, for the record.) Have you heard anything from them on the LT end?
