I was talking to someone the other day about music and was thinking that there's something analogous to slipstream occurring for the past twenty years there...
Aside from rap/turntablism/hip-hop/DJ appropriation, you've also got things like Evanescence, System of A Down, Linkin Park and the like.
Any thoughts?

I've never really thought about slipstream in terms of music until the other day when I read about the book Noise: Fiction inspired by Sonic Youth and a review that said that the band (whose music I loved in high school and college) 'operate in the foggy world between the real and the surreal'.
