I am trying to import a large group of records (2300+) with Universal Import, and I have been experimenting with a small batch of books to begin with. I really would like to be able to import our customized call numbers. Has anyone else found a way to do this? Any suggestions?
I'm in the process of importing 2000 or so books from one account to another. The only thing that has worked for me has been to import in small batches and then do a whole lot of cut 'n' paste.
Only 400 books to go -- I started in May!
Thank you for your answer. I don't have 5 months, though. I am hoping someone out there has been able to figure out something I haven't.
I'm no import wiz, and I don't know what sort of source or file you're importing from, but... if there were a way to (re)designate your call# field as tags, you could then import the (call#)tag for each book?
Not really what tags were meant for, but it might work...
It would still involve individually moving the tags to the proper field.
>5 .Monkey.: Just leave them as tags. Tags are searchable and sortable. His tags will contain/equal his call numbers.
Right, that can serve as an alternative, but it wouldn't actually get their custom numbers in the custom number field like they asked for.
