April still needs a host. Anyone?

Nov 29, 2016, 8:46pm Top

Posting to keep an eye on the thread. I'm already doing two months, and April is not a month that is overly interesting to me, so I'm afraid I won't be volunteering for it. Hopefully someone will step up!

Dec 6, 2016, 8:05pm Top

Um, I'm a newby but I could host April. I don't know that I would read more than one or two books that fit the category but I figure hosting doesn't require that, right?

Edited: Dec 6, 2016, 10:53pm Top

>4 EBT1002: Nope, hosting doesn't require you read any! Thank you for helping out! I'm sure you can see what others do before April and use those as examples for posting the April thread. :-)

And welcome!!!

>5 LibraryCin: and >6 sturlington: You're welcome. And, really, I will read something for the month. I already have a couple of things in mind!

I've posted the January thread and took the liberty of creating a Wiki page for this CAT.

Does anyone know how to post the link to the wiki on the group home page? Thanks!

I'm going to post February's thread early. I work a lot this week and it's my weekend to work as well. Then I'm off on a trip.

Just finished Thank You for Being Late This book fit this challenge very well as there was a great deal of discussion about the need for ethics and principled behavior as we move forward in this fast paced technological era. I have written a review, but fairly new to Talk so not sure what link to use. Hope this is right?

Jan 21, 2017, 3:25pm Top

>15 beebeereads: That did work. You can also click the little chain link icon under where the review displays on the book page to get a link straight to your review: http://www.librarything.com/work/18327067/reviews/137044939

Just so you know, we generally track each month's reads in their own threads. Here is this month's thread: http://www.librarything.com/topic/243401#

>16 sturlington: Thanks for the help on this. I somehow unstarred this topic and didn't see your response until today...a month late! I will make sure I post correctly from now on...

I want to apologize to everyone, I completely spaced out about the fact that I was supposed to do the October CultureCat. My settlement is supposed to take place on September 28th and I just found out that there were things not done by the bank grrrr.

I can work on it and try to get it done next week if this is ok with everyone.

Sep 16, 2017, 11:39am Top

>28 Jackie_K: That's fine with me - I know what I'm going to read, so will just get on with it even if the thread's not up. The important thing is that you get everything sorted out - what a pain, grrrr indeed to the bank. Good luck!

Sep 16, 2017, 1:27pm Top

>28 Jackie_K: Lisa, take care of yourself first. As we all know the theme for October is "Poverty" so we can pick our books and enter the info when you get a chance to start a thread. Hope everything works out.

Sep 16, 2017, 2:41pm Top

>28 Jackie_K: Of course! Hope everything gets sorted out soon. I hate when you suddenly find out that something important hasn't been done!

Sep 16, 2017, 2:46pm Top

>28 Jackie_K: Go take care of things! We already know what the theme will be, so we can plan ahead of the theme being up.

I finally have the October thread up!

Voting has begun on the 2018 CATs. There are two polls:

List of proposed new (or new-ish) CATs: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Y88PSFM
Poll gauging interest in RandomCAT and whether you'd be OK with turning it into a KIT for 2018 if necessary: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YVG3679

You have until October 16 at 11:59 PDT to vote on the proposed CATs. Once the results are in, we'll be in a better position to decide whether to keep the RandomCAT as a CAT or turn it into a KIT.

If you're wondering about how the CATs would be structured (or could be structured), you can discuss them on the 2018 CATs Planning Thread: http://www.librarything.com/topic/269263

RE: the wikis.

I posted here:

And was referred to another thread where the wikis have been turned off due to spam? Until they get some kind of fix.
