75 in 2017: ParringtonWright pretends to know what she's doing...

...but does not expect to convince anyone. Hello, my name is Sharon and this is my first time participating in the 75 books challenge. I hope I can keep up! I'm a librarian working in a mid-size public library in New England. I live with my husband and my cat, both of whom are willing to hide my books if they don't feel like they're getting enough attention. Gahhh! They're lucky they're so cute.

For the challenge, my goal is to read at least one book a month that ties in to a monthly theme or reading challenge and pull the rest from my embarrassingly long list of holds at my library. I spend a lot of time commuting, so I'll be including audiobooks on my list as well. This year I'm hoping to step out of my comfort zone and read more graphic novels, so I would appreciate any suggestions! I'm excited to be here and I look forward to reading as many of your threads as I can!

Just wandering around looking for good places to drop a star and... The Name of the Wind is your first read!? Fantastic! I hope you enjoy the next in the series as well. I had a fantastic time reading them last year until I found out that I was going to have to wait for the third in the series.

Looking forward to seeing what other books you have in store!

Welcome. The cats always let me know when I'm not paying enough attention to them. In fact, I just had to take a break to be "kneaded" and "bathed" by one of them. Lots of us include audiobooks on our threads.

Hi Sharon- yay! My first newbie! Every year I try to find a few new people to keep up with, and I often fail to properly do that, but I aim to try.
Welcome to the group, happy reading, I look forward to seeing what you complete!

It is! I particularly enjoyed "Three Bodies at Mitanni" and "Ambiguity Machines," but it's a fun collection overall

Hi, Sharon. I just found your thread and dropped a star. You've been reading some really great books. You have several on your list that I've been meaning to get around too, like Wool which I purchased either earlier this year or late last, and The Fifth Season which I have reserved at the library. I just recently started reading Bill Bryson and I've got one or two of his in my line-up to read as well.

How was My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry? I really enjoyed A Man Called Ove earlier this year and have the other on my wishlist. Does it stand up to Ove?

And...my 12-year-old son and I like to read graphic novels together and brought home Lumberjanes from the library the other day.

A belated welcome to the group!

Thank you! I didn't enjoy My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry nearly as much as A Man Called Ove or Britt-Marie Was Here, but you might have better luck with it. I feel that Backman is better with adult narrators than children, but I liked the concept of the story.

I hope you and your son love the Lumberjanes series! It's a lot of fun.

>26 LibraryStuntwoman: That's too bad about the Backman. I don't think I was in the right frame of mind when I read Lumberjanes - it was recommended by so many people, but I read it one evening when I wasn't in the greatest of moods, and it really didn't do anything for me. I think I'll have to try it again when I'm in a different frame of mind.

It is that time of year again, between Solstice and Christmas, just after Hanukkah, when our thoughts turn to wishing each other well in whatever language or image is meaningful to the recipient. So, whether I wish you Happy Solstice or Merry Christmas, know that what I really wish you, and for you, is this:
