In the new stage of console development, do you own/prefer:

A Nintendo Wii?

A Playstation 3?

An Xbox 360?

A PSP?

A Nintendo DS?

The only commonality on first glance between these consoles is that most of them apart from the DS, rhyme with each other. They all have very different games, but share some games with each other.

Which one do you own or prefer? That is the question!

I like the DS, but the Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii look very interesting indeed.

But what do you like in a console? Is it the graphics, the controls, the functionality, or like many people, including myself, THE GAMES themselves?

Discuss!

We have two DSs and an Xbox 360. The games were definitely the deciding factor on choosing those particular systems. And cost too, in the case of 360 vs. PS3.

We have a DS, PS2, Wii and Xbox 360. The 360 is newest and therefore my current fave - Xbox Live is easily the best online service of any of the current console generation.

I'm a bit of a Nintendo fanboy though: currently playing Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on the DS (brilliant) and waiting till I finish Mass Effect on 360 before picking up Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii.

I don't have as much time for gaming as I used to! I don't have as much time for *reading* as I used to, either!

I love my Wii! I've been a huge 'tendo fan since the SNES platform in the early 90s so I may be biased. :)

If your into light gaming and group gaming, the Wii is the answer. While of course you can play alone with one-person player games on the Wii (it's backwards compatible with the Gamecube games too) the most fun is the group party games. And besides....who seriously has never thought while playing Zelda, "Man, it'd be so awesome if I could swing my arm and control the sword, etc!"

Nintendo fan here too. I love my Super Nintendo most of all. I now have a DS and I'm getting a Wii for my birthday next month. The DS is really great, there are plenty of good games out for it and I can play all my GBA games on it too. I'm really looking forward to having a Wii - I don't have the time to invest in long-term intense games anymore, and it seems like the proper balance.

I also have a PS2, and I would get a PS3 if they weren't so expensive. I won't be able to afford one anytime soon.

I officially convinced my Dad to get me a DS for my birthday on the 4th of January. I picked up Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney at JB Hi-Fi today, so I'll have something to play on it when the time comes to collect the DS. I also want to pick up Brain Training, but that will have to wait until next week or so.

First off TA, the smart-ass in me wants to start another video gaming group just to negate your group title. ;-)

I am still clinging to my PS2, but than again, I still have my Atari 2600 (and play it), so I'm weird like that. I have a Nintendo (what-cha-call-it? The one that came out after Super Nintendo?) in a box somewhere in storage; haven't played it in years though.

I'm fascinated by the Wii; it looks fun, but I haven't shelled out the bucks for one. And I like the idea of all the "brain games" for the DS, but again, I haven't found a way to make myself buy one.

Like LBW, I'd get a PS3 if the thing (and the games) didn't cost as much as a house...

Anyone ever have an Atari Lynx? A friend of mine had one way back when and I loved it.

edited because I'm tired, and can't type.

I believe the sequel to the Super Nintendo was called a Nintendo 64. I own mine still, in fact, I have two, the other one is my brothers, the one I own I bought off a friend along with some games for $20... I ended up with heaps of N64 games I wanted but never got the chance to have before, like Perfect Dark for example... and Conker's Bad Fur Day (I like owning controversial relics of pop culture and literature, no matter what format they take).

I want a PS3. I'm not sure why I'm preferential to the PS's, except that they seem to have all the cool games I want to play. ATM I have a PS2, an original PS, and an original Nintendo with about 50 games for it (yes, I still play it - it seems whenever I have people over, eventually we end up playing Bubble Bobble or Tetris...)

It will be a long while before I can afford a PS3, too, but man I drool over the thing every week when I see it in the Best Buy ad supplement to the paper...

#9,

Yes! 64, that's it! Thanks!

And speaking of Zelda (#4), years ago when the Nintendo 64 came out my friend and I played Zelda on it for days and days. I mean, really. We'd stay up all night, one of us with a controller in hand and the other with the strategy guide. It was nuts...

10> I love that you still use your first Nintendo!

I was visiting a friend awhile back and he told me to close my eyes so he could get something from the closet. He flipped the box top open and told me to sniff the contents (still with eyes closed).

I'm telling you I knew exactly what that thing was...I opened my eyes and it was an original, never used Nintendo. It smelled like my childhood. I wonder if they make a Nintendo scented air freshener....?
