Any initial thoughts on what may have happened to Malahide when a neighbour said he hadn't been seen since Saturday?

Whenever someone says those words, I always figure that the person is probably dead.

I also suspected he was going to be dead. He was playing some dangerous games.

I also thought he was either dead or he had run. Dead was more likely.

It didn't bode well for Malahide that he was asking after Turnbull, we all know that the Major is a nasty piece of work. I thought it likely Malahide had been too clever and crossed swords with him. I'm assuming blackmail, and Turnbull would not take that lying down.
