I believe it was published in 90s or early 2000s
- YA romantic/angsty
- Teen girl w/ red hair moves to Brazil w/ family
- Teen meets Brazilian boy and they fall in love
- Boy’s family likes her b/c she’s American + red hair
- They hangout + celebrate Mardi Gras
- But boy is already engaged to someone else
- Girl realizes family allowed boy to have fling
- They knew that boy would still marry other girl
- Boy has no guts to go against them
- Or he wasn’t serious about relationship in first place
- First + final date was in a art museum
- Boy never sees girl again
- Girl is heart broken and I think she goes back to USA

The book didn’t have a jacket. I think it was just a red binding
