Unreceived Books, Part 8

Jul 30, 2019, 2:15pm

Time for a new thread - the old one is taking forever to load.

Inland by Téa Obreht from the May batch is nowhere to be seen :(

Edited: Nov 2, 2019, 8:33pm

Received and reviewed

Edited: Aug 2, 2019, 3:43pm

I still haven't received An Army of One by Tony Schumacher from July of 2017.

I just won another from the same publisher, William Morrow, so I doubt I'll get that one either. Apparently they aren't very good at sending out books, based on what I've been reading

Aug 1, 2019, 10:48am

I haven't seen Stone Soup Annual 2018 from the April 2019 batch show up in my mailbox yet.

Edited: Oct 23, 2019, 7:05pm

Haven't seen one of my June wins, God Just Wanted to Play Golf, which I was really looking forward to. Rats!

I see there are no reviews up yet, so perhaps none of them went out?

Aug 1, 2019, 11:37am

>3 mike1990: Thanks for the update. There was some turnover that led to a number of delinquent books, but I'm told that their backlog should have gone out—I'll follow up with them.

>5 LyndaInOregon: Since publishers have 8 weeks to send out books, June titles aren't really late just yet. That said, that one's an ebook, so do be sure to check your spam folder.

Aug 1, 2019, 12:35pm

>2 SandyAMcPherson: Yesterday, I finally received this e-book. There was an apology from Five Rivers, about having missed distributing the book. Yay - will read and review asap.

Aug 1, 2019, 5:32pm

>1 AnnieMod: I also am still waiting for my copy of Inland.

Edited: Aug 3, 2019, 10:12pm

Thank you lorannen!

Aug 6, 2019, 6:04pm

Stone Soup Annual 2018 from the April 2019 batch hasn't arrived yet.

Edited: Aug 7, 2019, 2:44am

'God Just Wanted To Play Golf' - I haven't received it yet either :(

Edited: Aug 9, 2019, 12:02pm

I am still waiting for Grilled Cheese and Goblins: Adventures of a Supernatural Food Inspector from last August and Memory's Exile from May 2017 (!) but I think they are lost forever, even if they are ebooks :-(

Aug 8, 2019, 1:26am

I haven't received Akela and Beverlee Beaz the Brown Burmese ebooks from the April 2019 batch. Hopefully it wasn't me inadvertently deleting them when clearing out my mailbox, but if so, is there a way I could ask the publishers for a resend?

Aug 8, 2019, 3:30pm

I never received Falter by Bill McKibben from the January batch. Or Archeology from Space from the April batch... Or Inland from May...I won’t worry about June win yet.

I don’t know what to do about this issue. I did get the July win and the February one. So I know my information is correct!

Aug 8, 2019, 6:25pm

>14 nancyadair: You're not the only one waiting on Inland. I just sent out reminders to publishers of May's late books earlier this week, so that one will hopefully be on its way soon!

Aug 13, 2019, 6:58am

Thanks! It is the Barnes and Noble Book Club pick for September and I go to the club...hope it comes in time...

Aug 17, 2019, 7:14pm

Still no sign of either The Path Keeper or Akela from the March 2019 batch.

Edited: Aug 18, 2019, 5:19pm

Aug 18, 2019, 10:54pm

The Last Leonardo from the June batch has not arrived.

Aug 20, 2019, 7:11am

Still waiting on The Network from April

Aug 24, 2019, 6:27am

I did not receive A Year in Her Life from the June batch. It was an ebook but I didn’t see it in my spam folders either.

Aug 24, 2019, 9:10am

Still awaiting three of the four I’ve won this year:

Falter: Has the Human Game Begun to Play Itself Out? by Bill McKibben (January)
Entertaining Between Worlds: Béla Pásztor (1895-1966) and His Era by Anna Szalai (February)
Terror in the Shadows Vol. 3 by Scare Street e-book (June)

It’s becoming difficult to maintain enthusiasm for the Early Reviewer program when it seems increasingly likely that the books will never arrive.

Aug 24, 2019, 11:39am

I've not received One Day on the Gold Line: A Memoir in Essays by Carla Rachel Sameth from the June 2019 batch. It was an ebook, but I've been checking my spam folder regularly and it's not gone in there. I've have got all the other books I've requested, and get LT emails, so I know my details are all correct.

Aug 24, 2019, 3:56pm

Haven't received Laurie R. King's Island of the Mad from the June batch. Pretty bummed about it because the copy I won in a previous batch was also a no-show.

Aug 25, 2019, 12:04am

>7 SandyAMcPherson:, Update...
I finally posted my review of A Tangled Weave tonight. My copy seems to be the only one on LT, which is very strange. It was from the May batch (2019) of Early Reviewers, and yes, it did take ages to appear in my inbox (it's an e-book).

I loved the story BTW!

Aug 28, 2019, 4:12pm

Still haven’t gotten Country by Michael Hughes, either. Same publisher, William Morrow, same problems

Aug 28, 2019, 5:25pm

Still haven't received my book Country by Michael Hughes. It's the June batch offered by William Morrow. I'm so diasppointed. I really want to read this book.

Aug 30, 2019, 4:12pm

I'm still waiting for...

Everything Happens for a Reason by Kate Bowler (June 2019 batch)
The Stone Soup Annual 2018 by Stone Soup Editors (April 2019 batch)

Sep 4, 2019, 6:48pm

I wrote to the Henry Holt publicist and she got Falter to me.

Sep 4, 2019, 6:48pm

I also don’t have Country or Inland.

Sep 6, 2019, 11:00am

Me either

Sep 6, 2019, 11:00am

Me too

Sep 6, 2019, 3:12pm

I have not received my copy of Alchemy by Rory Sutherland. I notice that a number of reviews of this book have appeared on LibraryThing already so suspect my copy may have been lost in the mail.

Sep 6, 2019, 7:51pm

>25 SandyAMcPherson: I still haven't heard anything about my copy of A Tangled Weave, so maybe you are the only one who has one yet.

Sep 9, 2019, 2:57am

Still haven't received:
From Peasant Foods to Superfoods from the January batch
Shipwreck Island from the November, 2018 batch

Sep 11, 2019, 5:15pm

My mistake. I was out of the country from late July to early September and apparently "Alchemy" arrived just before I left. I just found it in a stack of things I set aside to deal with when I got back. I have a couple of reviews to get out before I can turn to Alchemy but will post a review as soon as I can.

Sep 11, 2019, 5:17pm

I received a copy of "Cold Warrier" which was offered in May. I did not request it and do not wish to read it. If someone requested a copy and did not receive it please send me your name and mailing address and I will send it to you.

Sep 12, 2019, 9:54am

In June I won God Just Wanted to Play Golf but I never received it. I contacted the publisher, and they told me that the author is no longer with them and so they aren't able to share his book.

That's no problem, actually, except that I must remember not to flag the book as received. Is it possible to do something about it?

Edited: Sep 12, 2019, 4:04pm

Tatoosh - same! I received Cold Warrior (which I did not request and do not want to read), but had requested Proud Boys and the White Ethnostate (which I have not received). It's fine if I don't receive the latter, but would like to pass the former along to someone else who does want to read and review the ARC. I'm happy to pay for shipping on this.

I also have not received my ebook copy of A Year in Her Life by Alice Benson from the June 2019 batch.

Sep 16, 2019, 5:22pm

No takers so I'm going to donate "Cold Warriors" to the local library unless I receive a request before Friday, September 20.

Edited: Sep 28, 2019, 2:57pm

Hi! .mau. I'm the author of God Just Wanted To Play Golf and the book has been republished. I would be happy to send you a copy.

Oct 1, 2019, 9:20am

Still waiting for these ....

The Stone Soup Annual 2018 by Stone Soup Editors (April 2019 batch)
Everything Happens for a Reason by Kate Bowler (June 2019 batch)
Tin Badges by Lorenzo Carcaterra (July 2019 batch)

Oct 1, 2019, 10:15am

Missing a few, but these are two that I would still be interested in reading/reviewing!

The Path Keeper by N.J. Simmonds (March 2019 batch)
Blood King by Amber K. Bryant (May 2019 batch)

Oct 8, 2019, 5:55pm

I am still waiting for The Watanabe Name by Sakura Nobeyama from the June 2019 batch.

Oct 9, 2019, 3:12pm

Still waiting on Inland from the May batch

Oct 12, 2019, 5:18pm

>38 .mau.: >41 Craig.W.Chenery: I wanted to make sure you both saw one another's messages and connected, if desired.

Oct 12, 2019, 6:33pm

>2 SandyAMcPherson: Hi Sandy, I saw that you posted a review for this title. Can I assume the ER copy arrived? Thanks! Kate

Oct 13, 2019, 12:19pm

>46 katemcangus: I emailed >41 Craig.W.Chenery: directly, but I got no answer. But I am confident :-)

Oct 13, 2019, 2:09pm

I never receieved Hiddensee: A Tale of the Once and Future Nutcracker from the June 2017 batch. Is it a lost cause?

Oct 14, 2019, 2:32am

katemcangus: Hello! I just sent .mau. their epub edition of God Just Wanted To Play Golf.

Oct 14, 2019, 4:21am

Oct 17, 2019, 9:08am

>51 Craig.W.Chenery: >52 .mau.: I'm so glad that it worked out! Huzzah! Thanks, y'all!

Oct 17, 2019, 9:09am

>49 al.vick: I think so, yes. I'm only following up on books won from October 2018 on. I'm so sorry you never received it, though.

Edited: Oct 17, 2019, 12:14pm

Sorry, had publisher woes. Long story... but God Just Wanted To Play Golf is now available for reviews.

Oct 20, 2019, 12:50pm

I'm still waiting on The Network from the April Batch.

Oct 23, 2019, 12:30pm

>54 katemcangus: If your going back that far, I had one from July 2018 that I never received. That would love to still read and review. Phone Call With a Fish. Its the only I never received, I have held off buying and cataloging it because I didn't want it to show up as a received book. Would it show up a received book and credited review if I log it now?

Oct 23, 2019, 5:28pm

Hello, Buttsy1! I just sent you a message about this!

Nov 4, 2019, 2:52pm

Still waiting for these two from earlier this year:

One Week of You by Lisa Kline (December 2018 batch)
Guilty Crown by Bree Deleon (January 2019 batch)

Nov 6, 2019, 8:23am

Recently received my JUNE 2019 selection, Island of the Mad by Laurie R King, paperback edition. Better late than never!

Nov 27, 2019, 7:27pm

Received a comment on my LT profile today from the author of From Peasant Foods to Superfoods, but they seem to think I purchased their book? (Asked about a receipt or proof of purchase)

Just as an FYI to others who may have won this one and not received it (which is all of us), check your profile comments. I've emailed the author to see if they're still willing to send the book.

Edited: Nov 27, 2019, 8:46pm

pantsu - I did the same thing. She didn't seem aware of the giveaway so I'm assuming it was put together by her old publisher. I've reached out to her anyway, so we will see!

ETA: Regarding "From Peasant Foods to Superfoods"

Dec 4, 2019, 12:47pm

I still haven't received my copy of It's Not Magic by Jon Sands from the September batch. It's never taken this long for one to arrive for me so I hope it comes soon!

Dec 5, 2019, 12:47pm

Never got my copy of The Silent Treatment (September batch). Annoying because I wanted to read it.

Dec 5, 2019, 5:36pm

Good Things Happen to People you Hate from the September 2019 batch is a no show

Edited: Dec 5, 2019, 5:40pm

This message has been deleted by its author.

Dec 16, 2019, 3:19pm

Presuming Out of My Head: On the Trail of Consciousness from the Sept. batch has not shown up for anyone yet.

Dec 16, 2019, 3:22pm

>67 Capybara_99: Still waiting for it.

Dec 28, 2019, 12:27pm

This is a question for the LT folks; as I'm wondering if this has impacted several of my more recent no-shows: do some of the ER publishers refuse to ship to PO Boxes?

Dec 28, 2019, 12:58pm

Still awaiting two from early this year:

Falter: Has the Human Game Begun to Play Itself Out? by Bill McKibben (January)
Entertaining Between Worlds: Béla Pásztor (1895-1966) and His Era by Anna Szalai (February)

Has anyone received either of these?

Dec 30, 2019, 1:00pm

Has anyone received Anacaona, the Golden Flower Queen from the October batch yet?

Edited: Jan 12, 11:46pm

Haven't yet seen Fine, Thanks, from the November batch.

Jan 2, 8:31am

Just marked A Trace of Deceit as MIA; from October.

Jan 2, 5:55pm

Now that it's been two months, Highfire by Eoin Colfer is still missing from October. Didn't see any reviews for it either.

Jan 2, 11:39pm

Unashamed: Musings of a Fat, Black Muslim from September

Jan 3, 7:41am

Still awaiting It's Not Magic by Jon Sands from the September 2019 batch.

Jan 23, 11:47am

Still waiting for Highfire by Eoin Colfer from the October 2019 batch.

Edited: Feb 5, 12:55pm

I have not received Daring Darleen, Queen of the Screen from the November 2019 batch. I notice that it has several LTER-tagged reviews already, so maybe mine just got lost in the mail.
Received 5 Feb 2020, see >82

Jan 30, 2:40pm

Still haven't received Anacaona, the Golden Flower Queen from the October batch. I've been checking my e-mail and junk folder everyday. It doesn't seem to have been added to any other libraries and no reviews have been posted, so I take for granted I'm not the only one.

Feb 4, 5:28pm

Has anyone gotten Spring Slaughter from the Dec 2019 group?

Feb 4, 5:34pm

>80 Menagerie: I think you mean Spring Slaughter: Scary Supernatural Horror with Monsters by Sara Clancy. It doesn't look as if anyone has received it and the December batch isn't considered late yet.

Feb 5, 12:54pm

>78 norabelle414: I received Daring Darleen, Queen of the Screen today. The postage date on the package says December 2 so it's definitely the mail service's fault and not the publisher.

Edited: Feb 9, 4:49pm

From way back in April 2019, a book that doesn't seem to have been mentioned yet in Talk: Who Killed Buster Sparkle? My reviewer copy never arrived. I think no one on LT except for the publisher has a copy.

Feb 20, 3:39pm

I havent received "The Last Dogs" from the January batch yet. Since it's an ebook version i was wondering, if anyone else received it yet.

Mar 5, 5:08pm

I have not yet received An Unconventional Wife by Mary Hoban from the January batch although 4 LT Early Reviewers have reviewed it, with the first review appearing February 20th. My address is listed correctly; I checked it.

Mar 9, 1:59pm

Same here! Really disappointed as it sounded quite good.

Mar 12, 10:36pm

I actually received The Sleeper Lies, but I can't open the file. I emailed the publishers, but no response yet.

Edited: Mar 13, 8:41am

I am going on 0 for 2 with William Morrow selections: A Trace of Deceit never arrived, nor has On the Corner of Hope and Main from January, although it's not quite time to hit the "not received button."

(Edit) Make that 0 for 3 with William Morrow. The Gown never arrived, and it's been more than a year.

Mar 20, 7:37am

There are two that I am still waiting on: Indestructible from December of 2019 and The Network from April of 2019. Anything prior to that I am just purchasing on my own at this point.

Apr 5, 3:58pm

Okay, didn't know of this thread, so that is why I post this now instead of waaaaay back.

Didn't receive Internal Lockdown from the January 2019 batch. Too bad, as I was really looking forward to read it. Now even more.

Edited: Apr 12, 11:46am

I've experienced horrid luck with not receiving books that I've won from LibraryThing Early Reviewers... From the last few batches, I won but never received:
- The Big Impossible by Edward J. Delaney (Aug 2019)
- Tiny Love by Larry Brown (Jul 2019)
- The Not Good Enough Mother by Sharon Lamb (Jun 2019)
- Dapper Dan by Daniel R. Day (May 2019)
- Small Silent Things by Robin Page (Apr 2019)
- The Best Kind of People by Zoe Whittall (Sep 2018)

I also never received The Sweeney Sisters by Lian Dolan (Oct 2019), but I recently won a copy via another giveaway so I ended up marking the book as received on LibraryThing and uploading a review.

I know it's not an issue on my end since I've been receiving all of my books from Goodreads and other sites. Plus, I noticed many of the titles listed above do not have any Early Reviewers-tagged reviews, so I assume the publishers never mailed out copies.

I'm really grateful for the wins, but it's also disappointing since I was looking forward to reading so many of these books. I haven't won a contest since October despite consistently submitting requests, so I wonder if I'm being penalized for the books I didn't receive/review despite marking them as "not received" in the system.

Apr 12, 12:04pm

>91 hianbai:

I wonder if I'm being penalized for the books I didn't receive/review despite marking them as "not received" in the system.

You shouldn't be.

The Big Impossible, by Edward J. Delaney
Tiny Love, by Larry Brown
The Not Good Enough Mother, by Sharon Lamb
Dapper Dan, by Daniel R. Day
Small Silent Things, by Robin Page
The Best Kind of People, by Zoe Whittall

Apr 12, 1:08pm

Thanks for confirming! In that case, I have my fingers crossed for the April 2020 batch.

If we do end up borrowing/purchasing the unreceived books on our own and reviewing them, should we mark them as received and/or tag them as Early Reviewers?

Apr 12, 1:29pm

>93 hianbai: If you review an ER book it will automatically be marked as received even if you got it elsewhere.

Apr 12, 1:37pm

Understood, thanks!

Edited: Apr 20, 2:36pm

I "won" two books from the January batch but haven't seen either of them:
The Poop Diaries by Abby Ross, and Silent Manifest by Sean O'Brien.

Also still waiting for A Fine Mess by Kim Duke (February) and If She Had Stayed by Diane Byington (March). Technically, it's too early to mark these "not received", but since I am 0 for 5 on my latest "wins", I'm feeling a bit grumpy.

I did receive The Sleeper Lies, but couldn't get the file to open.

EDITED TO NOTE: I don't know how to do strikethroughs, but see my "reply" to myself at Post 99.

Apr 17, 7:26am

Corona virus has disrupted so much this year that it wouldn't surprise me if this year's batches had slower delivery. Of course, a good book to read while stuck at home is a great thing! Hang in there and maybe they will arrive soon.

Edited: Apr 18, 8:07pm

I am still waiting for:

How to Read the Constitution--and Why from the April 2019 batch
In Jerusalem: Three Generations of an Israeli Family and a Palestinian Family from the August 2019 batch

Up to this point, I only had one unreceived book from 2014 and that was explained as a publishing issue.

What gives? Shouldn't publishers be held accountable for this trend?

Edited: May 31, 4:02pm

>96 LyndaInOregon:

Finally got If She Had Stayed to download by emailing the file to my Amazon Kindle account! Kind of a back-door process, but it worked.

Apr 23, 8:22pm

>91 hianbai: just to let you know that I did timely receive The Sweeney Sisters from LT Early Reviewers (hard copy). I was delayed in reading it, hence no review. I am reading it now and should have a review posted next week. I have never requested an e-book.

Edited: May 4, 12:15pm

I haven't received The Shape-Shifter's Guide to Time Travel. Which I won as an ebook in the Feb. batch, so I'm not sure what the hold up on that one could be. Guess I'll be marking it as not received unless it shows up in my inbox tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Book finally sent from the publisher this morning, 5/4

Apr 29, 12:22pm

I never received It's Not Magic by Jon Sands which was from the September batch.

Edited: Apr 29, 10:07pm

>99 LyndaInOregon: my copy of If She Had Stayed went to my Junk folder, was invisible until I searched a few times, then refused to move out of the folder. Those issues could have been the fault of my email provider, but it's strange we both had trouble with the ebook. Sending the file to my Kindle didn't pose any unique challenges; however, it took longer than usual. I gave up on waiting and went to sleep. The book was on my device in this morning.

Good luck to you!

Edited: May 7, 10:31am

**I emailed that publisher and they promptly responded and emailed the book for review.**
I haven't received The Disharmony of Silence by Linda Rosen from the February 2020 batch. It was supposed to be an ebook so I thought that it would arrive quickly. I've checked my spam folder several times. Did anyone else receive this book?

May 2, 7:43pm

I have not received "Woman in Red: Magdalene Speaks" from January

Edited: May 8, 11:08am

I saw that it noted it could take 4-8 weeks to receive print books. It makes me wonder since I’m waiting for 4 books which will probably be published before I receive them!

So, I guess it’s too early for me to mark them as not received.
I didn’t realize there was a delay with e books also!!!

Love Starts Here by Traci Borum
The Last Diary of Venice by Margaux Deroux
The Cooperating Witness by Mike Avery
SQL Sequencing

May 8, 10:56am

I actually got this book from Book Sirens! It was easy peasy as they just provide the download button on page.

May 14, 11:14am

Just received digital copy of The Cooperative Witness today.
I don’t remember it being an ebook but ay least I have it.

May 19, 10:55pm

I still haven't received a copy of Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Mariah Ankenman from the February 2020 batch of review copies. I did notice that a few early reviewers have gotten theirs. I can't remember if it was a print or ebook copy, but I am assuming it was ebook as I'm in Australia and I can't see them sending a print copy to me.

Edited: Jun 4, 11:36am

I haven't received the last two books I won, Empire: A New History of the World from March 2020 and Proud Boys and the White Ethnostate from July 2019. Since both books only have one review posted, I assume I am not alone.

Edit: Of course the day after posting this, Empire: A New History of the World showed up in my mailbox.

Jun 4, 6:38am

Finding Myself by Olga Sushinsky (April 2020 batch)

I still have not received this book. Has anyone else who won received their book?

Jun 5, 10:07pm

Did anyone every get Anacaona: The Golden Flower Queen from the October 2019 batch

Edited: Jun 10, 11:51am

Is it too early to ask whether anybody has received Utopia Avenue from the April batch? I'm anxious that this one show up!
Since I'm here, I'll also mention that I'd still welcome The Europeans by Orlando Figes from the July, 2019 offerings.

Jun 13, 10:09am

I was really surprised to receive The Big Impossible (Aug 2019 batch) in the mail yesterday. According to the stamp date, it was shipped out earlier this month.

Jun 14, 6:38pm

Still haven't received The Poop Diaries from January or SQL Quickstart Guide from March.

Jun 30, 9:43am

>114 LizzieD: I still haven’t received my Mitchell yet either. I will say, I‘ve noticed the “big name books” seem more likely to not arrive. At least, that’s been my experience ... {shrug}

Jul 2, 11:03pm

I never got Good Things Happen to People you Hate.
Anyone else have problems with William Morrow books? I've stopped requesting them altogether.

Jul 3, 10:27pm

I haven't received Vanishing Falls by Poppy Gee from the April 2020 batch.

Jul 4, 1:03am

I am still waiting on The Lightness by Emily Temple from the April 2020 batch.

Jul 5, 5:16pm

I haven't received Vanishing Falls either.

Jul 5, 5:19pm

No Vanishing Falls here from April either.

Jul 5, 8:55pm

No Utopia Avenue here either. :(

Jul 7, 2:48pm

Still haven't received my April or May wins. I'm assuming COVID is slowing things down.

Jul 9, 9:37am

I'm still waiting for 500 Miles From You by Jenny Colgan, from the April batch.

Jul 9, 5:57pm

Still waiting for my April win, Two Truths and a Lie by Meg Mitchell Moore.

Jul 9, 9:20pm

Still waiting for Everyone Knows How Much I Love You from the May batch.

Jul 12, 7:36am

Mistress of the Ritz by Melanie Benjamin from May. It's the first time I won a book from Revell.

Jul 14, 1:05pm

I have sooo many books I did not receive, starting way back in December 2014. Here is a list...

December 2014 batch - The Matheny Manifesto
April 2018 batch - My Dear Hamilton
August 2018 batch - Death of a Rainmaker
June 2109 bath - The Tiger Catcher (I received a book by Daniel Silva written in, I think, Spanish instead, but with a packing slip for this book!
July 2020 batch - Mrs. Lincoln's Sisters

Edited: Jul 15, 11:26am

Backing up what mike1990 says in message 3, out of curiosity I looked up a number of these and most I checked are published by William Morrow. Sadly, they may not be worth requesting from. :(

Edited: Jul 15, 7:51pm

I didn’t get 500 miles from you by Jenny Colgan from the April batch either daisy.

Re William Marrow/HarperCollins,
they are one of the major publishers that participates in this program. I’ve had a couple of books missing from them but I also almost exclusively request and receive books from them so I’m not worried or complaining.

Jul 18, 6:21am

Very interesting! I've been getting books from William Morrow since 2018 and always receive mine!

Jul 19, 5:19pm

Has anyone received their books from the April 2020 batch? I'm starting to lose hope on Vanishing Falls by Poppy Gee, which I was so looking forward to reading

Jul 19, 6:16pm

Still no Poppy Gee for me either hianbai

Jul 19, 9:29pm

Still awaiting these two from early 2019:

Falter: Has the Human Game Begun to Play Itself Out? by Bill McKibben (January 2019)
Entertaining Between Worlds: Béla Pásztor (1895-1966) and His Era by Anna Szalai (February 2019)

Has anyone received either of these?

Jul 20, 11:11am

I haven't received Making Friends with Alice Dyson from the May 2020 batch, but this is probably because I just realized I never changed my name/address with Early Reviewers, although I had changed my name with LibraryThing. I honestly thought I had taken care of that before (fixed now). I'm not sure what to do about this at this point.

Jul 20, 1:39pm

Has anyone received Two Truths and a Lie from the April Batch?

Jul 21, 12:35am

I am also still waiting for Vanishing Falls. There are 58 reviews and 78 ratings for it on GoodReads so it appears the publisher has given LeisureThing readers a rather low (or no) priority.

Jul 27, 9:06am

No signs of The Falling Woman by Richard Farrell. I do hope I still get that one. Patience....patience.

Jul 27, 11:13am

Just curious... does LT follow up with publishers on these unreceived books?

Still don't have The Story I Am by Roger Rosenblatt.

Does anything ever get done about us not receiving books??

Jul 29, 6:23pm

Mr. Wizard is lost also. I was excited to read it but I haven't received anything!

Jul 30, 6:03am

Did anybody receive Tell Me Why You Fled: True Stories of Seeking Refuge from the January 2020 batch? It doesn’t seem to be mentioned in this thread but the lack of ER reviews suggests it wasn’t sent out.

Jul 30, 5:35pm

I haven't received Hieroglyphics from the May 2020 batch.

Aug 2, 6:01pm

I am still waiting for:

How to Read the Constitution--and Why from the April 2019 batch
In Jerusalem: Three Generations of an Israeli Family and a Palestinian Family from the August 2019 batch

For some reason, they both now read that they were received so I did the "Whoops" thing. Does this now count against me for future books?

Aug 3, 10:19am

Sadly I've given up on Vanishing Falls. I emailed the publishers with a gentle inquiry and received no word. On the upside, I received The Lives of Edie Pritchard by Larry Watson from the June 2020 batch, which was a great read!

Aug 3, 7:39pm

I am still waiting for I'd Give Anything by Marisa de los Santos from the March 2020 batch.

Aug 3, 10:00pm

Still waiting on Vanishing Falls and love, zac

Aug 4, 7:02pm

Nor have I. The "official" book release date is today, but GoodReads already lists 100 member ratings for the book. At a minimum our reviews will not be "early." More like bringing up the read.

Aug 12, 4:13pm

Still waiting on Hieroglyphics from the May 2020 batch.

Aug 22, 10:40pm

Has anyone else not received A Wild Winter Swan by Gregory Maguire yet? Starting to feel nervous as I noticed a couple of reviews are up already and someone commented that they received it over a week ago. I was really looking forward to this one

Edited: Aug 23, 12:27pm

I still haven't received Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend by Jenny Colgan from the March batch or 500 Miles From You by Jenny Colgan from the April batch. Whenever I forget to update that I still haven't received them, I don't win a new book.

Aug 25, 4:14pm

Have given up on my April win, Two Truths and a Lie

Aug 25, 5:51pm

I've given up on
Red Leaves - April 2017
Archaeology from Space - April 2019
Mistress of the Ritz - May 2020

(sad face)

I'm still waiting for Utopia Avenue from the April batch.

Yay, it arrived Wed., 9/16, and it's a signed copy no less!

Edited: Aug 26, 6:55pm

I have not received The Lightness from the April 2020 batch and I don't think anyone else has either.

Aug 26, 6:55pm

I'm also still waiting for Utopia Avenue from the April batch. Has anyone received a copy?

Aug 26, 6:59pm

>158 msf59: I haven't received mine, but there are two reviews with the ER badge.

Aug 27, 4:04pm

A general note for everyone waiting on books: I've been doing a lot of work over the last few weeks tracking down titles that haven't been delivered. I heard last week from Algonquin that they'd be sending out the May titles that fell through the cracks, and today heard from both Henry Holt and Random House that they're working to send out past ER winners. COVID + USPS issues obviously have had an impact on ER, but I hope you'll trust that I'm working to get y'all your books.

>160 katemcangus: Thanks for the update!

>160 katemcangus: Thank you for following up!

Sep 1, 9:28am

I never received The Secret of Eveline House from April's batch, but I see that it has many revues. Hope I will still receive it.

Sep 3, 12:38pm

Sadly, I did not receive When We Were Young and Brave from the June batch. I see there are 14 LTER reviews for that one, so it seems the postal service is at fault rather than the publisher. I had been so excited to win this one...

Sep 9, 2:28pm

So am I waiting for INLAND. It's been more than a year, May 2019.

Sep 9, 2:32pm

In August 2019, lorannen said, "You're not the only one waiting on Inland. I just sent out reminders to publishers of May's late books earlier this week, so that one will hopefully be on its way soon!"

More than a year later, I'm still waiting. But I did receive another book I thought I'd never get, THE FALLING WOMAN.

Sep 9, 9:02pm

Still no A Wild Winter Swan from the July batch... I was so looking forward to this one. Really hope it wasn't lost in the mail, but it's been nearly a month since the first ER review was posted to LibraryThing.

Edited: Sep 14, 3:05am

Still m.i.a. from the January 2019 batch: Internal Lockdown (https://www.librarything.com/work/22373805)

Hmm... I forgot how to to add a link to the book.

Sep 12, 12:06am

Sep 14, 11:36pm

Thank you again, Kate. My Jill McCorkle first edition of Hieroglyphics arrived today from Algonquin Press. Good work!!!!!

Sep 17, 1:41am

>169 LizzieD: yay!! Mine arrived today too!! Thank you!!

Edited: Sep 18, 10:12pm

I just received Utopia Avenue a few days ago - 9/16

Edited: Sep 24, 6:18pm

It's been a couple months since the last time we mentioned this one, so I'm calling it personally. :) Did anyone ever receive 500 Miles from You by Jenny Colgan? The book has been out for ages now and has hundreds of ratings on Amazon, so I'm assuming it's a moot point.

Sep 24, 6:40pm

I have not yet received Vanishing Falls (from April) or Red Canvas (from June). There is one ER review of the former on line and two ER reviews of the latter. Previous to this there was only one instance back in 2017 that I failed to receive an ER copy. I'm wondering if there is still hope that Vanishing Falls and Red Canvas will show up.

Sep 26, 3:48am

I was browsing around hoping to find a thread about unreceived books and I stumbled upon this one. So I hope I'm in the right place.
I have not received the following:
In a Pickle by Cindy Dorminy (July 2020)
Silver Heights by J.L. Cole (July 2020)
Hearts Abroad by Skye McNeil (November 2018)
No Perfect Magic by Patricia Rice (June 2017)

I wish you all a happy weekend filled with good books.

Sep 27, 11:17am

>177 daisy32: I did not receive mine either.

Edited: Sep 27, 12:15pm

katemcangus: Two years ago I won - but never received - the ebook edition of Grilled Cheese and Goblins: Adventures of a Supernatural Food Inspector. Now I noticed that LT has a new review (end of August) for a copy received from NetGalley. Do you think you may ask Blind Eye Books about it?

(I lost all hope for Memory's Exile)
