I’ve read this book so long ago my actually memory of the story line is fragmented now. From what I can remember it was about two cousins, I believe in London, writing back and forth about what was going on in their lives. It was set many years ago, not sure how long, but they still wore the fancy dresses and gloves during the time. One was engaged to a man she didn’t think she liked and he was mysterious, she later found out he was a wizard or involved in magic of some sort. He ended up saving her life using magic (or something) and confessed how much he actually loved her and how he was trying to protect her. I remember them always talking about drinking chocolate from fancy china. That’s the extent of what I remember, if you know which book this is please help!! I would really like to read it again.

Although it doesn't exactly meet your description, could it possibly be Sorcery and Cecelia, by Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer?

That’s it! It’s been so long since I’ve read the book I’ve forgotten main parts of it. Thank you!
