Complete Fairy Tales by Wilhelm Hauff.
(it was way too cheap to resist... :P)

So much for my January money diet. Four purchases this month, one of them today (that one was 50% off and the sale ends soon):

* Wake, Siren: Ovid Resung by Nina MacLaughlin (modern retelling of myth, got good reviews)
* Your Voice, Your Vote: The Savvy Woman's Guide to Politics, Power, and the Change We Need by Martha Burk (content obvious, important this year especially)
* Your Pocket Life Coach by Carole Gaskell (subtitled "10 Minutes a Day to Transform Your Life" -- it was inexpensive, and it IS January)
* Good Habits, Bad Habits: The Science of Making Positive Changes That Stick by Wendy Wood (good reviews, it IS January, and this one was 50% off, Web site: https://goodhabitsbadhabits.com/)

And 3 ARCs:

* A Long Petal of the Sea by Isabel Allende (pub 1/20; historical fiction)
* Recipe for a Perfect Wife by Karma Brown (pub 12/19; multiple time period novel)
* Iron Will of Genie Lo by F.C. Yee (pub 1/20; young adult fantasy, book 2 in a series and I've read book 1)

And I'm not done yet. :-( I've ordered a book on writing I've wanted some time and a novel for my historical fiction book group.

The previously mentioned books arrived and were purchased:

* Dialogue: The Art of Verbal Action for Page, Stage, and Screen by Robert McKee (I already own his Story)
* The Summer Queen by Elizabeth Chadwick (historical fiction about Eleanor of Aquitaine)

And a new box of ARCs arrived at work this week. I snagged two very yummy titles:

* The Last Odyssey by James Rollins (pub 3/20, contemporary adventure with history and science thrown in and usually a bibliography in the back -- I've read 2 of his books and enjoyed both of them)
* Eight Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson (pub 3/20, mystery/thriller)

Must. Stop. This.

No, There. Is. No. Need. To. Stop. This.

Don't be so hard on yourself. :)
Authors and booksellers must live, too.
And I, for my part, am happy to support them. :P

>4 Yuki_Onna: I'm a bookseller and I don't make much money....

One ARC today: If I Never Met You by Mhairi McFarlane, a contemporary romance due to be published in March.

>5 nrmay: LOVE historical fiction, including that set around wartime in the field and on the homefront. Unfortunately, my historical fiction book group has decided they're "all World War Two'd out." Not me. I also love reading novels written during wartime. I worked my way through all the Mr. and Mrs. North series by Richard & Frances Lockridge. They were easier to find than the Kelley Roos and Frances Crane that I'm also trying to access.

I had two Kindle purchases over the last few days. I purchased Fool Moon by Jim Butcher as I am re-reading the Harry Dresden series and I didn't have this book (and it was on sale for $1.99). Also, Bitter Pill by Jordan Castillo Price which is the newest of her Psycop series. This was a pre-order that finally came out.

Also purchased Love in the Afternoon from Lisa Kleypas the other day that I ordered from my local bookstore. Completes my Hathaway series :-)

I blame the book designer for my inability to resist the cover of The Unlikely Escape of Uriah Heep by H.G. Parry (fantasy in the vein of Jasper Fforde).

And an ARC: _Cottage on the Beach_ by Lee Tobin McClain (pub 2/20; contemporary romance)

> ReneeMarie: That's a pity. Writers, publishers and booksellers should make tons of money!
I support my local bookstore wherever I can.

I bought an omnibus from one of my favourite childhood/teen authors today -
Die Frau am Meer & Der Schimmel im Moor (The woman at the sea & The white horse in the moor) by Ursula Isbel
as well as The mythical creatures bible by Brenda Rosen (as a gift) :P
