What did you think Juan should do on being rescued? How could he fight back?

Juan needs to anticipate Tate’s next move and try to stay onestep ahead of Tate.

I agree that Cabrillo needs to get one step ahead of Tate, become proactive rather than reactive.

He needs to go on the offensive but he also needs to figure out a way around that weapon
