Thanks Andrew for taking time from your busy schedule to lead discussions - hopefully now that you've got the framework in place, things will start to calm down a bit. We won't be back to normal until after these lockdowns are all lifted and maybe not even then.
Stay safe and healthy all!
Thanks Andrew. This was such a stressful time for you and I'm so sorry. Thanks to everyone who participated. It was great to have Jodi join us too. Hope to see you again.
Stay safe everyone!
Andrew...a simple "thank you" seems not to be enough. You amaze me!
Jodi: So good to have "met" you, Hope you won't be a stranger and will be joining us again and again.
Sergei, Lynda, Eadie & Brenda: Thank you all for taking part in this great discussion when we all have so many changes and uncertainties happening in our lives.
>4 Carol420: Thanks for your comments.
Thanks again, Andrew, for your time and great questions even though things with your job is so upside-down. Thanks to all who participated and made the discussion interesting.
Jodi: Hope you do join us again. You are a quick study and had excellent answers to Andrew's questions.
Big THANKS to all of you: this has been a 'challenging' read, for all concerned, I assume. I know Andrew has had far greater concerns, and I personally have struggled to remain focused at times - so tempting to want to keep an eye on the news, instead.
These are crazy and surreal times, IMO, I'm glad I've had this little pocket of normality in my life.
Thank you all for being such good reading buddies - including our new reading buddy, Jodie. Hope you stick around Jodie, and become one of the regular gang, 😀.
May we all stay safe.
>6 Sergeirocks: Well said. Hope everything is going smoother for Andrew. Seems the education system just dumped it all in his lap and said "adios". i know it's his job but a little support and direction seems would have been the right thing to do.
>7 Carol420: I totally agree, Carol, but to be honest, I don't think anyone in so-called-authority has clue what to do... Everyone saying so'n'so needs to be done but not saying how to do it. I think it's a case of make it up as you go along.
Everyone - Thanks so much for letting me into your book club. I feel so welcome. I plan to read some more books with you guys. There is another series that you are going to read book #2, so I'm going to read book #1 by myself to catch up. I will also read the camel club series with you guys. I have difficulties reading out of order, so I probably won't read any books where you are already at #4 in the series. I'm really trying to finish up my Yahtzee book challenge.
Andrew - I was skeptical about an online book club, but I found that your challenging questions really making me more engaged in my reading endeavors. Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy life to do something like this. I know it's a lot of work.
Everyone - Thanks for all your great answers, they also made me open up my mind while reading. Seeing things from a different perspective. I had a great time! :)
>9 jodiesohl: we were so happy to have a new "member" and you added so much to our reading experience. As you can see, we all think a lot alike... but we all bring some different perspectives to the reads. You come back now!
A great read people! Overall average rating for the book 4.75
Overall rating for the series after 2 books - 4.44
Apologies for interloping at the 11th hour, COVID has been rough for me being considered essential services. Yeesh!! Fortunately I have read the series and indeed this book previously so I could put in my proverbial 2 cents.
>11 ColinMichaelFelix: You are more than welcome to join in anytime. It was no problem at all to change the ratings.
Thanks everyone and Carol I think you hit the nail on the head >7 Carol420:.
Thanks for everyone’s patience on this group read, especially with the unplanned lull in the middle.. Also thanks everyone fir your support, a great group and that helped enormously.
The next group read is The Devil’s Colony by James Rollins, if you can’t get a copy because libraries are shut you can get it from the National Emergency Library during this crisis.
Great to have you with us this read >9 jodiesohl:, it is usually a bit more ordered than this one was, but we are living in strange times. I do hope you will join us again.
What about if we read The Devil Colony by James Rollins next, and then read book 3 in this series after that seeing as it left us on such a cliff hanger. Then we can move onto the Michael Connelly book after that.
Book 3 in the David Baldacci Series is also available in the National Emergency Library.
>15 Andrew-theQM: Yes. I have already read both those books so I'll just be doing refresher reading to join the discussions
>15 Andrew-theQM: That works for me also. With the fines for overdue materials being suspended I can keep the book diffidently...well..at least until the library opens again:)
