medieval with strong heroine

Hi, I am looking for a medieval historical romance. I don't know when it was published. I think it is set in the time of the Norman conquest, at any rate it is a medieval and there is a war or a conflict at the backdrop. The book begins with a depiction of the heroine fighting against all odds to protect her home. Her father and her brother are dead. And then she looses and the leader of the enemy asks her to bring him to the head of the household or something of the sort, and she says something like "you're looking at her".

No sadly it's not it - but I'm enjoying reading it now anyhow. The Lady was really waving her sword around in the one I'm looking for.... Hopefully I'll be found.
