Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays! What 1001 books are you reading during this holiday season as you make a last dash to complete any year-long challenges or meet reading goals?

I'm ripping through some of the smaller books- hoping to get to 500 by the end of the month. Finished Annie John last night, The Nose and End of the Road are on deck.

Currently reading the very engaging Murder must advertise and hoping to get to The devil to pay in the backlands after that.

Starting North and South for the group read. On audio, listening to On the Road for something completely different.

3/4s of the way through North and South which is going quicker than I'd expected.

>4 paruline: Murder must advertise is on my desert island book list. It has more twists than a corkscrew. And each time I read it I know the result, but that doesn't stop me being enthralled along the way.

I WILL finish Pilgrimage this month! I've got the last three books within Volume 4 to go.

>7 BentleyMay: While I didn't love all the books, overall I found this work fascinating (and rated the last volume higher than the previous three).

>8 ELiz_M: I have to agree - Oberland and Dawn's Left Hand were both huge improvements over Volumes 2 and 3!

I did finish Pilgrimage! While I did not enjoy all of the books, I am glad to have read it.

I am currently reading The Green Hat and Mary Barton, plus a non-list book The Morning Star. That will probably be it for the year.

I wasn't sure where to ask this, but does anyone know if this group is set up so that anyone can post here, even if they aren't a group member?

I'd like to host a year long read of Anniversaries and I think it makes sense to do it in this group, but several who would like to read along don't read from the 1001 books list and aren't group members. I seem to remember that is a decision made by our admin and I don't know how this group is set up.

I've finished The Diviners, a good long read and have resumed The Romance of the Three Kingdoms (vol 2).
