problem formatting new annual booklist to my profile

Since 2008 I've posted favorite books for the year to my profile. This year, I listed books as usual, but when completed, they were formatted as a paragraph rather than a list. Though I didn't touch last year's list, it also suddenly formatted that way. I know nothing about coding. Please help!!

>2 MarthaJeanne: That's a completely different issue, as it was talking about the Lists function and the OP is talking profile formatting.

>1 njinthesun: The sections of the profile now use HTML coding since the re-design. If you click inside the text box a row of formatting buttons should appear. Use the paragraph (ΒΆ) for each line of your list and it should display properly after you click Save.

>1 njinthesun: The account/profile edit page was updated earlier this year. (Details here: https://www.librarything.com/topic/340231)
I'm not sure why your line breaks are not working, but there is a bullet point button now so you could try using that instead.

I've tried following these instructions for an hour now and nothing is working. When I hit the paragraph button, nothing happens. When I try to use bullet point button or order button, the bullet or number works only on the first line. I don't want to have extra spaces between each line. Is there any way to undo the new formatting so I can just create a list as I've always done? This is way too hard for those of us who are older and never learned any of this :( I usually love Librarything, but today feel like a stranger....

>6 njinthesun: To get back to the old format, click the first button in the row of buttons, that looks like a left arrow and a right arrow.

To make a bulleted list you click the button at the beginning of the first row, and then every time you hit "enter" it will create a new line with a new bullet. You don't need to click the button again. The first and second bullets might be too far apart at first but once you keep going they should look more like a list with items close together.

>7 norabelle414: Thank you so much norabelle414 for taking the time to talk me through this. My computer has been in the shop so I wasn't able to edit my profile until today. Your explanation helped me a lot. Have a wonderful holiday. I appreciate the support.
