What do you tai chi practitioners feel about practicing to music? I recently started doing my form to music. One CD is Chinese music ("Tao of Healing" with flute and harp) without rhythm. The other is Indian/Persian ("Ghazal" with sitar, santour, and chanting). I like practicing to music, and even the little bit of rhythm in Ghazal is not too much of a distraction. I have a friend who practices to jazz, although on the mellow side. He isn't bothered by the rhythm, i.e., he doesn't speed up or slow down according to the music.

I love to practice to music. Especially the Chinese type you mentioned. Helps me have more of a meditative inner posture.

I find nature's music the best, or more spefically, i find being able to hear them loudly is music to my ears. That means my mind is clear and calm enough. :) Please refer to this post for more discussion and links to other similar discussion!
