Does anyone here have a copy of Isaac Asimov's The 1,000 Year Plan? It looks to be the same as Foundation and should be combined, but since I've never seen the book myself I don't want to make a mess.

Maybe I should post this in Science Fiction Fans, but thought I'd start here.

ISFDB says that The 1000 Year Plan is a variant title for Foundation which was used as part of an omnibus edition (Ace Double D-110) with Poul Anderson's No World of Their Own. There are plenty of records here for the omnibus with both titles. However further research shows that later Ace republished just Foundation as "The 1000 Year Plan" with catalogue number #D-538.

I have a copy of the Asimov-only "1000 Year Plan" paperback; however, it's not where I can access it. My memory is that it is an abridged version of Foundation. It's certainly some version of Foundation, but maybe not the entire book. Very thin book, I recall.

I don't generally follow this group (maybe I should) and don't know what to suggest, I'm afraid.

Abridged Foundation? That is . . . confusing. Foundation itself being a short story that became a thin book was then abridged? Interesting way to keep readers confused, I guess.
