Progress Publishers

Is anyone in the group familiar with Progress Publishers? It was a English language publishing house run out of what was then the Soviet Union. They'd take Russian works on history or politics generally and translate then into English. It put out a number of books, I have Alexander Blok poetry book, an Introduction to Soviet Civil Law, and a history of the Russian revolution published by them. There are many more titles out there that I haven't seen.
My question is does anyone know if the Russian Communist Party still has a publishing group along these lines or maybe if the Chinese govt does something similiar? Also does anyone have a full or partial list of the books that Progress Publishers put out?

I used to have a lot of Progress Publishers books and pamphlets -- they were the cheapest way to get the Marxist classics, and Russian classical literature, but, given the stultifying nature of Russian (and all other) communism on thought, little else.

They had an outlet in the US, associated with the Communist Party. But I think all of this has now vanished.

I think Foreign Languages Press is the equivalent in China.

You can get a lot of hits with an advanced search at Amazon, though I haven't gone through them carefully to see how many are junk.

What exactly are you looking for? I might have an old catalogue from 1976/kicking around in a drawer somewhere.

I own around 150 Progress Publisher books. I love them!
