Does anyone know a good price to sell a first edition book club Dune book? It is in very fine condition!

Book club books do tend to use cheaper paper.
Perhaps you can search on eBay or other auction sites to see comparable prices?

Book Club editions have little value, except sentimental. There would be rare exceptions. I'd recommend checking on Abebooks and see what they're selling for, but bear in mind that what people are asking for are not always what they are getting. Abbreviations to note: BCE (book club edition); BOMC (book of the month club; books look remarkably like publisher's original except there is no price on the DJ), or SFBC (science fiction book club; usually printed to a uniform size, less expensive paper...). Good Luck:-)

While it may say first edition on the inside cover, the real first edition of Dune is published by Chilton and won't mention the SFBC. But it is still nice to have them!

Strictly speaking, the "first" edition of Dune was when it was serialized in Analog magazine.
But collectors vastly prefer the first book publication - the magazine version still goes for a song.
Avaland - there are a few titles where the SFBC edition IS the true first.
(Which reminds me: I'm looking for a comprehensive history of the SFBC. It seems like the sort of thing that should exist on the Internet, yet I haven't been able to find such a thing.)

If the book is the "first book club edition" in a "like new" (aka "fine") condition with no defects (wear, writing, etc.), with the dust jacket in the same condition, $50-100, and perhaps even more on a good day. In a more usual "near fine" condition with "very good" dust jacket, $30-50.
The first book club edition of Dune used the same dust jacket design as the first trade edition, but the book was printed from different plates.
The SFBC is notorious for having scant information on the copyright page. If the dust jacket is not the same as the first trade edition, and/or the book has an ISBN number, it is a later printing.

There is no history of the SFBC available on-line.
