Here are the literal "Great Books" from the University of Chicago program of the same name, published about fifty years ago in a multi-volume set. (Thus the C20 titles, especially the non-fiction, are quite dated.) I have consolidated titles that are in more than one volume. The bulleted lines are the titles of the volumes in each set, followed by the names and titles of authors whose work is contained in that volume (in extract form).

This is by no means a complete list of "the Great Books" (where is Macaulay!?), and some of the selections here may seem eccentric to some. But the list is a starting place for those who want to build a library of the Greats.
