Well, I think I've finally made my decision on which categories to do. But it could still change in the next week or so. Who knows? LOL. Here they are:

1. Romance *This is actually the easiest one for me to complete*
2. Teen Fiction *Also another fairly easy one*
3. Classics (I have quite a few in my pile and I keep putting them off...)
4. Mystery
5. Science Fiction/Urban Fantasy/Fantasy
6. Chick Lits/Contemporary Romances*What I call 'Light Romance Reads'*
7. Non-fiction
8. Literature/Fiction
9. Recommended Books from Friends/Family

I'll post more specifics on what I plan on reading later.

I just finished A Prisoner of Birth yesterday. I loved it and wish I weren't done -- would like to keep reading. Archer may not be a literary giant, but he can't be topped as a storyteller, and I think this is his best book for a long time.

Ooh-- now I'm anxious to read it! I bought it spur of the moment while walking through the store the other day. I do not usually read mystery, or fiction in general *unless it's fantasy or romance, my personal fav*, but something about his caught my eye and I flipped through it and ended up buying it. I figured, what the heck? The worst that can happen is I hate it and in a few weeks, I take it to the local used book store and exchange it for something I'd rather have, right? Or I could even end up liking it.

I haven't read it yet, currently one of my friends are reading it *They had nothing to read, where as I have a huge piling waiting to be read. I think they can read it first, I have plenty of time to get around to it!* but when I get it back, I think I may just bump it up a bit on my TBR list.

Nothing under romance yet? I'm shocked! (LOL)

Only because I can't figure out which of the 100 in my pile I want to read for this. LOL. But yes, I know what you mean-- it is quiet shocking, coming from me! I guess I'll have to go through and do my list for it. Still need to finish the lists for the paranormal challenge too.

EDITED: There-- finished the Romance list. I tried to choose the ones that have been A) In my pile for the longest and/or B) Will not fit into the categories on my paranormal challenge. :D

FINISHED NOVELS FOR CHALLENGE (Part 1):

1. Julius Caesar by Will Shakespeare
2. So Yesterday by Scott Westerfeld
3. Fangs for the Memories by Kathy Love
4. Mysterious by Nora Roberts
5. Dewey by Vicki Myron
6. Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
7. Snitch by Allison van Diepen
8. Mythology by Edith Hamilton
9. How to Live with a Neurotic Cat by Stephen Baker
10. Double Fantasy by Cheryl Holt

I'm going to do these in small posts in order to keep up and because other wise the touchstones tend to be, well, touchy! I finally gave up on getting the touchstones for Mysterious to work!

Interesting, we only have one overlap with Pride and Prejudice. Considering our similar tastes I'm a little surprised.

Wow. That is a bit surprising! Of course, I still have a few books to add, maybe we'll have more overlaps.... But if I was adding more romance novels and teen fiction novels to my challenge, then we'd probably have plenty of books in common!

>8 The_Book_Queen: Is it okay if I borrow your "Neurotic Cat" book for my Books About Cats list? It sounds so fun and so true! Boy, do I have a neurotic cat.

19The_Book_Queen
Dec 29, 2008, 6:41 pm

Sure! In fact, I would recommend it.

I got it as a gift a few years ago. The joke amongst family and friends is that my cat, Sassy (Perfectly named, by the way, even though when I named her that, she was actually more Sweet than anything else!) is a total neurotic cat, evil at times, cuddle when she wants something, and pretty much crazy when she is playing.

You will find yourself laughing out loud many times during the book and probably going 'Yep, that's my cat' or 'Uh-huh, I know what you mean!'. :D Enjoy!
