Ok, I'm in for 2009. I like the "no changing your mind once you make your list is public."

I'm doing the 50 book challenge as well. I have a tentative list of 55-60 books for that, but I know those will change, and I like the idea of committing to 12 that have been on my TBR pile the longest (well, I guess I'm committing to 12 out of 24.)

My List (not necessarily in the order I'll read them) :

1984 by George Orwell
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
The Awakening by Kate Chopin
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
East of Eden by John Steinbeck
Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert
The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett

Alternates:

War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Inferno by Dante
Morvern Callar by Alan Warner
Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs
On the Road by Jack Kerouac
Pale Fire by Vladimir Nabokov
Atonement by Ian McEwan
Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri

Alright! I'm looking forward to seeing what you all are reading and to making a dent in my TBR pile.

Hi, MeganGrace!
I also have Atonement on my list. You have lots of great books listed. It's going to be a great year. I will also see you at the 50 book challenge. Happy Reading!

I just finished A Clockwork Orange, which was great. I found it very thought provoking.

I'm starting a few others from my list now. I'll update when I finish the next one!

I don't know how I made it to 24 without ever reading To Kill a Mockingbird, but I finally read it. It was phenomenal! (Which I'm sure most of you already know.)
