Taken from my LiveJournal...
I was going to somehow mark those books that would be considered juvenile fiction, or YA, or under a certain number of pages, but that makes this far more complicated than I really need it to be. In addition to the full-length books listed, I read a slew of short stories and poems for school, plus a reader full of academic articles compiled by one of my professors; I'll probably enter the syllabus for each class at some point to complete the year's reading.
Here is... The List.

Ms. Bella, did you get to Ptolemy's Gate? I struggled with The Golem's Eye but was so glad I made it through when I got to the last book; it was by far my favorite of the three. I plan to re-read them this year, if I ever get the first one back from the friend who borrowed it!
Kerian, I have so many of the books you read in '08 on my TBR list for '09! The Marked series, the Cinda Williams Chima books, Eragon, Eldest, and Brisingr... I also own several other Philippa Gregory books I really need to read eventually; I've had them for ages.

Thanks! Now I only fear I read too many great series in 2008 that I won't have as many fantastic series for 2009. I like standalones and some of them are absolutely incredible but I always fall for books in a series. Series suggestions are always appreciated. :)
I really need to read some other books by Philippa Gregory, too. I have books one and three in my TBR pile. I would have read The Constant Princess first had I known sooner that that it takes place first.

Same here re: The Constant Princess, K.
Let's see... Series recommendations. Have you read any Mercedes Lackey? I can't guarantee that you'll like them, but I got hooked with Arrows of the Queen and have read a slew of her series since (nearly all trilogies, with a few standalone novels about pertinent supporting characters). The Magic Kingdom of Landover series was a lot of fun, too - Mare introduced me to that one last year. There's also this one about a boy wizard... Henry? Harold? Something... Will have to come back to it when I can think of the name...

I haven't read anything by her yet. I saw you read a lot by her this year! I'll have to look for those two. I have BM points just sitting there. Thanks! :)

The Arrows series and the Magic's Pawn series are my go-to books when I'm sick or feeling down. They get read at least every other year :)

Laia, no I didn't get to Ptolemy's gate, I am going to reread the series this year and get to it. After The Golem's eye I just had to take a break and I never got to it.
K, You should definately read the Vampire Academy Series. I loved it. I also recommend L.J. Smith's Vampire Diaries Series. Yes, I am really into Vampires... and No lol... not just because of Twilight.
I have a whole list of books to get done this year. I am hoping to also get a few rereads in there. It Includes the Inkheart series, Eragon,Eldest, and Brisinger and I plan on going to the library tomorrow after my interview to pick up a few newer ones, that way I can get started on my Support your local library challenge, I will list those when I come home tomorrow.
I agree with the fact that no matter how huge my tbr pile is it isn't huge enough, I love adding new books.

Okay . . . I'm going to do this a little differently.
Here are the books I read in 2008 that I own.
Here are the books that I read in 2008 that I don't own.
The total comes to 227.
Of those 227, many were juvenile or YA novels, which partially explains how I could read so many. I did not count the picture books that I read -- since I do weekly story times, and read many of the new picture books as they come in, adding picture books to my count would have increased it by at least a couple hundred, I imagine.
Oddly enough, though not all of the books in my main catalog were rereads, and not all of the ones in my foggireads catalog were new reads, the proportions stay the same: 169 new reads, 58 rereads.

I read all those I tagged @2008 and I don't think I forgot to tag many, totals 130 so I'm not listing them all here! Some authors new to me many re-reads of old favourites, plus Curse of the Mistwraith read twice during the year, so I could have the details fresh when I aquire the sequel.

My list is here All the books I read, though the books I listened to from the library are not listed.

Wislist overkill. ;)
#9 Bella:
The Vampire Academy series is definitely on my wishlist. I read all of L.J. Smith's books when I was a teen, though. I used to have them, too, if it weren't for the stupid storage locker sell I didn't know about. I plan to reread Inkheart this year, too. I want to after I see the movie.
#10 lefty:
One LTer’s rereads become another LTer’s wishlist books. :) (I love that – I have to write it down somewhere. ;) I didn’t realize how many books Joseph Delaney has written! Revenge of the Witch is the one that’s in my TBR pile. Which series is your favorite? You’ve added to my wishlist, by the way!
#11 foggi:
I only got to 169 when I counted them. ;) Your first link isn’t showing anything for us. Is there a tag we could look for? I would love to see the list of books you read this last year that you own. :) My sister is going to be so happy! Looking through the books you read and don’t own has shown me Gathering Blue. My twenty-year old sister has been crazy about The Giver for the last ten years or so. She had six copies at one point and has always tried to get others to read it. (I read it six years ago.) Thanks for helping me find this for her! She has no idea there is more to it. Three books! *hugs*

*hugs*

#16 re: #11 -- Odd. Well, if you search my catalog for books tagged 2008 you should get there. Otherwise, I guess you'll have to take my word for it! ;-)

I think there's a special way to link books in our libraries or else only the person whose library it is may view it. I can't remember what the trick to it is, though.

If y'all want to know what I read in 2008, I have a 2008 tag. It was 52 books total. I also wrote reviews of all of them.
I don't think I'll be tagging all my books this year. It was fun to do for a year, but I like to just read with no agenda. I found myself writing reviews in my head before I'd even finished the book.

#16 re #10 K, That's a great quote! You should write it down ... oh wait, it is written. Well remember that you said it then. ;) I've only read Delaney's The Last Apprentice series, which I love, love, love. There are currently 5 books in the series. Though I think there's another coming. And the series is called "The Spook's..." in the British editions (i.e. The Spook's Apprentice), so don't get confused if you start buying them.
#19 LG, I can understand wanting to go back to the basic joy of reading. I like to keep track, but it can make one go a little stat crazy sometimes.

I don't use LT tags to track my annual reading. Instead, I keep a reading journal by my bed. Bit old fashioned, I know, but I enjoy it! Here's my 2008 list, in order of books' start date.

I'll have to remember, won't I? ;) Thanks for straightening that out! Now I'm thinking of Philosopher's Stone. :)
