I dropped by today and it was boarded up. I know they had a couple of years to go on their lease. It is unclear whether they will open at a new address. The website is also inactive. I am completely bummed.

There was an article in the Union/Tribune several weeks ago about the closure. No advance notice was given - apparently even to staff. I first shopped at Wahrenbrock's about 40 years ago when they occupied the 7th and Broadway corner of the old Bank of America building. A trip downtown on the bus was always special, with visits to the classic book store, and Thearle's the old music store across the street. Their closure makes me feel very nostalgic.

Now there are no good used book stores downtown :-(

Bummer, this was the best bookstore in town to get old copies of Surfer and Surfer's Journal. Anyone know other stores that carry old mags?

There's a magazine store near Park that is on University. They are next to On Comic Ground and a used book store.
They may be the best bet for what you might be looking for.
Good luck!
