Now this challenge sounds like my cup of tea! I too have copied a list from someone else (thank you RidgewayGirl). There is only one book that I read last year that I'm going to count for this challenge, but I don't think y'all will blame me too much once I reveal which one it is. The rest of them will be counted from 1 Oct 2009.

Anna Karenina is the only book that I am counting for this challenge that I actually read last year. Other than War and Peace, it's the perfect book for Russia.

Vatican City and Angels and Demons are only up there for laughs (or groans). I must admit that I do enjoy the fact that Vatican City did get their underwear ruffled by such books as The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. I just wished they showed that much concern about the children that were getting abused by their priests and bishops. . .

While I do agree that you should certainly count your Russian book, the two you mentioned are not the only doorstop classics. Don't forget Dostoevsky and his Brothers Karamazov.

Oh, and welcome to the challenge!

You do have a point. Dostoevsky is one I haven't been able to get to yet, but intend to.

I almost forgot about this thread/challenge. Ulysses is going to take me a while, so here's a bump so I can find this again.
