So for the next two weeks there will be a massive used book sale taking place in my office building. I usually wait for the last weekend when everything is half price and stock up (last year I got 38 books for $83).

In the spirit of LT and BM, I'm willing to keep a look out for anything folks here especially want. If you want to add a book to that list, please post the title and author (and preferred format if you have one) here and I'll create a nice spreadsheet.

Obviously, if the list gets huge and I'm successful at finding a bunch, then mailing might take some time. Because of the nature of the sale, there are a lot of random and esoteric books available, not just popular fiction (though there is a lot of that as well).

The last day of the sale is Oct 25th so please post by Oct 23rd to give me time to finalize the list...

Melusine, The Virtu, The Mirador and Corambis by Sarah Monnette
The Horse is Good by Viggo Mortensen

There are a few paperbacks I'm very interested in as well:

Here Be Dragons: Tales of Dragoncon by Robert Asprin and others

Thanks again!!

The main thing that I am looking for right now are books by the British Politician Tony Benn. Thanks to the generosity of another LT'er I have Free at last but I do not have anything else.

The other author that I am trying to collect is Tamora Pierce. Pretty much anything and everything at this point. I had ALL her books as a child, gave them away, and am now kicking myself. lol!

Thanks for doing this for us!

Ohhh, I've got a bunch of series I'm trying to complete. Oddly I seem to have a knack for getting either the 2nd one, or the 1st and 3rd.
Looking for:

Billy Bones Have 2nd one
The Tree Shepherd's Daughter The Faire Folk Trilogy - Have 2nd one
Last Dance & Witch Ball & Sword Play The Seer Series - Have 1st and 5th
Gifted: Out of Sight, Out of Mind Gifted Series - Have 2nd
Baby BeBop, Cherokee Bat and the Goat Guys, Missing Angel Juan, Witch Baby and whatever else there is in the Weetzie Bat series - Have Weetzie Bat and Necklace of Kisses
and the one I'm looking for most of all:
City of Ashes Mortal Instruments Trilogy - Have the 1st and the 3nd

Pretty esteric, but I've been meaning to post my list, hoping someone here might have them. :)

Grrrr, touchstones!

>Mareofthesea I have managed to acquire all of Tamora Pierce's books in a fairly short time and since she's my favourite author *ever* those books aren't going anyway ;)

Foreigncircus - You're a gem for offering to do this :)
I've been trying to desperately to find a copy of The Summer Garden by Paullina Simons which matches my copies of the first two books (they have a almost solid colour cover with shadowy images of people at the bottom i think they're 2004 editions) Edit I have uploaded the cover of my copy of The Bronze Horseman and the cover of the second book is in the same style but blue
And I would be eternally grateful if a copy of Pagan's Scribe and Babylonne both by Catherine Jinks were found as it's near impossible to get them over here without paying exorbitant postage fees from the US.
Oh and if anything by Elizabeth Chadwick is there that'd be great I'm trying to build up a collection her books (although i do have Shadows and Strongholds & The Wild Hunt already)
So long as they're in decent condition (no major creases or tears) that's fine and I'll smooch you points back if you manage to find any of them :) I've got loads of points to spend and none of the books i want ever seem to turn up.

ETA: bolded bit :)

Thanks FC for offering.

Anything by Elizabeth Bear in her Promethian Age Series.
I had all the Foxhall Academy Books as a kid and got rid of them so now I'm trying to collect them again. The author was Alison Hart.
Also the books for The Always Friends Club series by Susan Meyers
And Jane Yolen's new book Dragon's Heart (Touchtone didn't work)
Besides that anything off my wish list would also be apreciated.

Thanks so much for being willing to do this, ForeignCircus!

I wasn't going to post to this, because I can see you getting swamped -- but since you've got "elves", I'll give it a try.

I'm looking for several books by:

Gerald Durrell:
"The Aye-aye and I"
"Garden of the Gods"
"Gerald & Lee Durrell in Russia"
"Golden Bats & Pink Pigeons"
"The Stationary Ark"

And a couple of books by:
Euell Gibbons:
"Stalking the Wild Asparagus"
"Stalking the Healthful Herbs"

I know that this is a long shot, because these are not the type of books normally found at booksales, but I'd love it if you'd take a look.

Thanks again!

I also didn't want to weigh you down until I knew about the elves. So kind of you to offer to do this. What I'm looking for is not specific books but some particular cover art. If this is too hard to look for that's okay, but just on the offchance that either you or your elves are familiar with what I'm after - Anne Bascove (known as just Bascove) is one of my favourite contemporary artists. To my knowledge she has illustrated covers for Robertson Davies books and the Cadfael books by Ellis Peters (and maybe some others - but apparenty only on the US editions) and is credited on the back covers. As long as the front cover is in good condition I'm not bothered about the rest of the books so that should keep postage down. Please don't waste too much time hunting for these - it's a bit of a cheeky request, to be honest, and I'd rather you concentrate on those who actually want 'real' books.

Ooh, thank you for looking! That sounds like a really fun book sale. :)

Things for which I would adore you forever:

The Pirates! in an Adventure With Napoleon by Gideon Defoe
Highlander: An Evening at Joe's edited by Gillian Horvath
Psych: a Mind is a Terrible Thing to Read and Psych: Mind Over Magic by William Rabkin
The Middleman: the Collected Series Indispensability by Javier Grillo-Marxuach (I have tried to buy this twice.)

If you find any Doctor Who (or Torchwood) books, many of them are wishlisted. Episode novelizations (they're smaller, thin, and usually published in the 70s and 80s) aren't usually in as high demand, but most anything published after about 1995 has someone looking for it. I'd ask for specific books, but it's too difficult!

argh, touchstones!

Is anyone else wondering if Foreign Circus' sister is named Domestic Circus? Is her mom Global Circus?

Nooo...just me, I guess, nevermind.

Sister's name actually does start with a D- she's a Deirdre...

#83 Oh, how funny!! My daughter is a Deirdre, too! She's here: http://www.librarything.com/profile/Deirdreofmaine
She reads, I just can't get her to post her books to her library.
