So, where should we have a meet-up/party thing? We suggested Bukowskis on the blog, but it's prob. too small and noisy. We'd also love to do the Gardener, and are looking into it. It's probably way too expensive.

Any ideas—both bars and places we can rent cheap?

The Stadium in South Boston is a short cab ride from the convention center and they have a large room upstairs that they rent out for these sorts of things:

Actually, you don't really mean South Boston for a meet up do you? Do you mean the South End? Simmons is in the Fenway which is near the conference but I think South Boston would be too far away. I confess I've got a symphony ticket that afternoon, as I'm staying with my sister, but I would like to attend at least part of it, or the social gettogether if that is separate.

The conference center (Boston Convention and Exhibition Center 415 Summer Street, Boston, Massachusetts) actually is in South Boston (not, unfortunately, at the Hynes).

We were thinking for the event itself, we'd be in South Boston because that's where ALA Midwinter is. I don't know whether we'd stay there or move elsewhere for the after-party...

I type too slow. What Jeremy said. :)

Hope to join you. The Gardner would be great and let me kill two birds with one stone!

Gardner is INSANELY expensive.
